A new state agency could implement reparations in California. Here’s what’s proposed

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s Reparations Task Force recently concluded its two-day public meeting geared toward compensating Black Americans affected by the legacy of slavery. But the nine-member body is a long way from the finish line.

One of the key discussions of the recent meeting was the creation of a new state agency — a “freedmen’s bureau” to be the authority should reparations become a reality.

The idea for the proposed California American Freedmen Affairs Agency was inspired by an act passed by Congress on March 3, 1865.

Back then, the federal government established a Freedmen’s Bureau to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical services and land to African Americans newly freed from enslavement. It also established schools, supervised contracts between freedmen and employers, and managed confiscated or abandoned lands.

Nearly 160 years later, California’s task force looks to create an agency with the power to implement reparations and have oversight to ensure its many goals are met.

They could include implementing programs and policies that benefit the quality of life for descendants of enslaved Blacks.

The proposed state freedmen’s bureau could include different branches to cover different areas reparations, such as confirming genealogy for eligibility of services. Other branches might handle legal affairs, data and research, social services and family affairs, medical/psychological services and business affairs for entrepreneurship.

Many on the panel said the recommendations, if approved, would give the new state agency “teeth.”

“That’s the only way we can really make sure that this two-year effort that we’ve been on matters,” Moore said. “That’s the only way we’re going to be able to make sure that our work that we’ve done is not in vain.”

And 50% of California’s productive population and companies could leave the state. Then who will make the payoffs?

I foresee lots of Blacks moving to California in the near future.

Maybe that means fewer in Houston?

California: a once beautiful land infected and taken over by absolutely insane idiots. Just like a virus replicates by hijacking a cell’s DNA and causing it to replicate the virus’s DNA, California has been hijacked and taken over.

Gotta find a way to extract that money from the slave descendants. Gold chains. Escalades. Whatever it takes. Why not?

Give each one $5 million bucks. You think you azzhos have a crime problem now, you ain’t seen jack, Jack. This one is going to require 55 gallon drums of popcorn. These bass turds have no idea of the can of worms they are about to open with their goofy honky guilt idea. A lot of people are going to be killed for that money. A lot of people. Okay Fornies. We’re ready for your show to begin.

300,000 dead Union soldiers, mostly white, count for nothing in the reparations discussion.

Where were these slaves in Cal? Cal pop was not large and it was a non slave state. Did the Ruskies or the Spanish who controlled the state early on have slavery. Questions, Question.

They spelled the proposed agency wrong. It should be “Fraudmen’s Bureau.”

If I’m a white person in California the first thing I do is file a federal lawsuit for discrimination and violation of civil rights

What’s the point here? Everyone knows it’s not possible to pay these reparations. I’ll answer my own question. It’s simply another weapon in the on going color revolution. They now this will cause more racial division and strife. These people are sick.

I hope so. I’m surrounded by California bleks in Dallas. I’ll be honest though...for the most part they are very conservative.

I have met my fair share of deadbeat weed smokers though. Disgusting smell.

Here is a link to Mr. Smith's articles at the Sacramento Bee.

Two days of public hearings on reparations were just concluded in Sacramento. From the photos, it looks like maybe 5% of the attendees were white. Here is what one typical "witness" had to say...

“How can we let bygones be bygones when the knee of white supremacy is still on the necks of Black Americans, choking the very life from us?” -- Maureen Simmons.

Simmons is a consultant who began researching the reparations issue in Shirley Weber’s office back in 2019. hirley Weber, D-San Diego wrote the execrable CA legislation to explore how the state could potentially remedy the harms caused by enslavement and racial discrimination. It was signed by Newsom.

In a way, I’m hoping that the success in California, because I don’t live there, will open the door for that infamous slippery slope they are creating for this situation.

If I’m not completely ignorant, and there are some that say I am, because of a nationality or skin color recognition, people had things taken away from their ancestors wrongly. History won’t bear that as it is current history that is deciding it like a Monday morning quarterback. But that door it opens is going to be huge.

By the definition of the process I mentioned above, there are a number of “groups” that were treated the same by the removal of them as human status: Irish, Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, American Indian...the US has done the same thing to all of them in our history. And the only difference is that they didn’t get a boat ride.

So where does it stop? Especially since the last slave was freed by law almost 160 years ago. So, it isn’t about slavery for the current people. It’s about lawlessness. Isn’t it about time the US admits why it is happening now and for the real reasons? Not as long as there is a chance at votes and financial support.

Oh, quit being silly.

BeijingBiden HAD to be installed into the WHouse thru a corrupt election because that would ensure that sufficient fake “Covid” funds would be allocated so that states (like CaCaLand) that permitted destructive riots by Antifa/BLM thugs would be covered by tax monies FROM ALL THE OTHER STATES!!

You all are gonna pay for this.

And, since the GOP did absolutely nothing to fix the corrupt 2020/22 elections Newsome will be the new Pres in 2024 and ensure this program is rolled out nationwide. This is how the $$$ flight of folks leaving blue ‘Ellholes will continue to support the same corrupt areas.
