The immunity generated from an infection was found to be “at least as high, if not higher” than that provided by two doses of an mRNA vaccine.
Immunity acquired from a Covid infection provides strong, lasting protection against the most severe outcomes of the illness, according to research published Thursday in The Lancet — protection, experts say, that’s on par with what’s provided through two doses of an mRNA vaccine.
Infection-acquired immunity cut the risk of hospitalization and death from a Covid reinfection by 88% for at least 10 months, the study found.
“This is really good news, in the sense that protection against severe disease and death after infection is really quite sustained at 10 months,” said the senior study author, Dr. Christopher Murray, the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
The findings may be a small silver lining to the explosive omicron outbreak of last winter. With so many people infected, many most likely still benefit from that protection against severe disease, Murray said.
Still, experts stress that vaccination is the preferable route to immunity, given the risks of Covid, particularly in unvaccinated people.
“The problem of saying ‘I’m gonna get infected to get immunity’ is you might be one of those people that end up in the hospital or die,” Murray said. “Why would you take the risk when you can get immunity through vaccination quite safely?”

Thanks, but I will take my advice elsewhere.
That is true will all viral infections. I was vaccinated for smallpox at age 8, got infected with symptoms at age 10, recovered fast from that nasty 30% mortality disease, and then never got sick again with smallpox.
And if the governors hadn’t locked down the country....we would have reached herd immunity early on and avoided all these mutations.

All of these reports are mitigating the fact that Natural immunity is far better than the vaccines.
A year or so ago, my wife and I apparently had the Omnicron Variant and were over the basic minimal symptoms in a few days.
Recently, we got hit with a stronger Variant caught at Thanksgiving.
I apparently ended up with Covid Gout for about a week besides the normal and short misery..
My wife was recovering from hip replacement surgery, and she, and her lower back had some severe issues, with this
Variant.
Basically, she is back to walking and doing what she did before this Variant. She was walking a little over a mile before this Variant. She has worked back to 3/4 of a mile.
So, we apparently got the 10 month or so immunity from the Omnicron the year before this latest crud. Then, it went away.
Hopefully, our immunity from this latest variant will get us past this fall/winter: Thanksgiving/Christmas and New Years.
Muti antigenic immunity is always superior! Every person with it mmunology 999 knew that and lied to you.
The questions you should ask is Why did they lie? Why did I obediently obey without question, when other voices were calling for rational thought… slow down.

No, it’s better than vaccine-induced immunity, because infection-induced immunity is broad spectrum immunity, while the vaccine only creates a narrow immune response to a small subset of coronaviruses.

The problem is that neither previous infection or vaccines are very effective against some of the newer variants. That is why monoclonal antibody treatments don’t work anymore.

Well, it wasn’t strictly “his” EUA, it was the FDA’s, and Trump didn’t really control them, though you could certainly say that he pressured them.
But if Trump wants to maintain that he was right about Ivermectin and HCQ, then the EUA was invalid on its face, and all the subsequent mandates were illegal, and all of the vaccines distributed under the EUA constituted illegal human trials without proper informed consent. Those are the logical consequences of him being correct about Ivermectin and HCQ.
Why? Is truth any less true because it comes from someone whose name you don’t like?
Now they should study immunity gained from past seaonal flu infections.

When she got Delta (a week after me) she had a modest headache for a few hours and that was it. What worked for her ...
Some have speculated that her COPD inhaler medicine might have also helped. COVID has subsided enough that I probably won't share these details in the future, but I do think it's significant because she is/was the "weakest amongst us".
