A Dutch researcher predicted that an earthquake would hit the region, highlighting with almost exact precision the epicenter of the quake that would soon strike.
A Dutch expert published a tweet on his Twitter account three days before the earthquake in Turkey on Monday, predicting that a powerful earthquake would happen imminently in Turkey.
He even attached an aerial photograph and marked the area where the disaster would happen.
Dutch seismologist Frank Hoogerbeets, who works for the Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS) in the Netherlands, predicted the earthquake in Turkey on February 3.
The prediction On his Twitter account, the Dutch researcher wrote: "Sooner or later there will be a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in this region (South-Central Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon)."
The SSGS describes itself on Twitter as a research institute for monitoring geometry between celestial bodies related to seismic activity.

Check the timing shown in the article. This guy worked it out over CENTURIES. In other words, I think it was more than the diagram (correctly) illustrates. I inferred other planets were involved.
Dunno.
Yes, the other planets also aligned recently, but I don’t know which direction..........................
Not the same guy Dutchsinse is it???
He’s been doing this for years.
I was curious if he had predicted this one too.
He could have gotten the actual day if he was willing to generate a new Twitter identity for each guess...
It doesn’t really matter what he’s predicting. If the Turks construct even brand new buildings, which crumbled in this quake as easily as the older ones, with little or no rebar they will simply continue to collapse and kill many people.
I do not think ANY ‘standards’ can survive the intensity & number of quakes Turkey just had.
I predict sooner or later a size 7.5 earthquake will hit California.
Aren’t I a genius?
Do you remember the shopping center in So Korea that just collapsed one day. It turned out the contractor had used beach sand instead of construction sand in the concrete.
In a good deal of the third world such short cut are easily overlooked. Better standards might well reduce some portion of the damage and death. We’re at about 12k dead so far. I wish it were 6k instead.
Good find, bert. Thank you.
Turkey actually has adopted fairly modern building codes because of their earthquake risks. They even have a special “earthquake tax” meant for mitigation. But, that money goes into their general revenues... Also, their economy under Erdogan is not very conducive toward a lot of retrofitting (often not practical) or tearing down and rebuilding. Mostly, they do well just to build for their needs, perhaps sometimes any way they can?
While stationed in Adana a number of years ago I can attest to the frequent seismic activity in the area between Adana and Gaziantep. I lived in a mostly concrete high rise apartment building which is more than likely a stack of floors now like playing cards. My prayers go out to my Turkish neighbors.
