The White House on Friday said it has already approved around 16 million Americans for student debt relief ahead of Supreme Court debate on whether or not the program will be allowed to proceed.

The White House revealed the figure in a press release, noting that around 26 million individuals were poised to receive student debt relief in September of last year, and that “over 16 million of those borrowers’ applications were fully approved by the Department and sent to loan servicers.”

The program was put on pause in November when the Supreme Court ordered a halt to the proceedings as it considered lawsuits critical of the forgiveness plan.

The high court is expected to hear arguments regarding the plan on Feb. 28.

What roll does Congress play or do we have an imperial presidency?

What if the banks don’t want them.

I sure wouldn’t want them if I was a financial institution.

None. All laws are written by the President and Approved by the Supreme Court.
Congress plays no role, other then to make the people think they have a choice.

It is where they used to be. If there is a penny to be made the banks will be there.

I thought the Lawfare groups wrote the law, got it approved by the Courts who then get the Administrative State to implement and enforce it.

If they give the money to the borrowers then the borrowers will have received twice the amount and STILL won’t repay it.

If the money goes to the banks then when do those who have repaid their loans receive their checks?

What about those people that never went to college but instead spent money on something for their business?

The small print.
Loan forgiveness depends upon Supreme Court’s decision.

Here's the tough process used to approve debt relief:
Question 1: "Do you have a pulse"?

Question 2: "Have you ever or will you vote Democrat?"

If you answered Yes to 1 and 2, you are hereby found qualified to have your loan forgiven.

At the least, I hope the deadbeats not paying on their student loans in the hopes it will someday be “erased” are taking a major hit on their credit scores.

If the banks had to evaluate student loans like they had to evaluate other loans:

"Tell me, young fellow. You want to study Neo-Fabian gay poetry as a major? And you want a loan for $200,000 to finance the education? Don't call us. We'll call you."

... are taking a major hit on their credit scores.

That's next. You won't be able to downgrade anyone's credit scores due to an unpaid student loan. Mark my words.
