About 8:24 p.m. Officers confront Tyre Nichols at a traffic stop. Officers stop Mr. Nichols at the intersection of East Raines Road and Ross Road and push him to the ground. As officers wrestle with him, Mr. Nichols can be heard saying, “I didn’t do anything.”
The Memphis Police Department initially said that Mr. Nichols had been stopped on suspicion of reckless driving. However, the Memphis police chief, Cerelyn Davis, said in an interview with NBC that the department had not been able to confirm why Mr. Nichols had been stopped.

If they were able to use him as a punching bag and beat him to death, they could have easily cuffed and secured the suspect.
They had all the muscle, and they proved it.
“That said it would be helpful to know the full context of the traffic stop.”
The five officers can explain that to a Shelby County jury.
This seems to be a warning to our citizens.
This is hw you will be treated from now on.
Did you see the video? The cops started a violent encounter and never gave that man a chance to comply. They went violent right at the start.
Did you ever get dragged from your car and immediately punched and tased? No? Then why are you comparing your experience to what the rest of us see on the video?
“I can’t vouch for this, but there is someone claiming that they know a Memphis cop who said that the victim had slept with one of those cop’s wife and it was payback that went too far.”
If that is accurate, it is First Degree Murder and that is the Death Penalty.
Thats the lefts plan.
They want good people to avoid joining the military or LE so that way they can be replaced with the types who will follow the lefts orders.
Folks, the USA we all grew up in is basically gone.
In one of the videos, you can clearly hear someone creaming “I you know me” several times. Don’t know if it was a cop or the victim.
Are the paramedics being charged with dereliction of duty?
Two medics arrive on the scene after Nichols is placed against the car and check on Nichols, but they do not appear to be in a hurry.... Almost 16 minutes later, medics appear to open their medical bags for the first time,.... provide aid..... Minutes later, ‘officers’? bring in a stretcher, .... ambulance arrives at about 9:02 p.m.
In total, he remains slumped at the car for more than 24 minutes as officers walk around.
Why would he run from black police officers?
Because he knew they were gonna beat his ass into the pavement?
Five large men should be able to very quickly subdue a thin man like Nichols
Have you been there and one that.
My guess ( and it’s just a guess) is that this was not their first encounter. That kind of beating is personal.
Tyre was resisting the officers from the start. He was very belligerent from the get go.
That said, a jury will decide if the officers acted outside of their department procedures regarding bringing a subject into compliance.
As much as I don’t encourage anyone to read NY Times, here is archived version
Exactly. At the same time cops did not need to hit the thin man so much. He was easy to subdue by 5 burly cops.
Its only a guess, but its possible Tyre may have had some kind of autism.
I have a nephew like that. When he faces a tense or unexpected situation, his brain becomes completely focused on “fight or flight.” He can’t be talked to, can’t be calmed. He will scream, push, run, etc...
I can also imagine angry cops responding to that with even more beatings.
What Tyree needed to do was not to get beaten to death on the street by five cops.
Could they have gotten wrong information? or after the wrong guy? I’m questioning why they haven’t released why he was stopped...rather saying it’s not clear...which gives time for them to decide whatever they want as reason to stop him. hey wnt after him so fast and hard there should have been a reason for that....they wer just so hyped up.
Either or this still does not excuse in any way the officers nor how others responded to this. It’s just horrible what was done to him.
In my 37 years’ experience driving in corrupt Chicago, I never argued with cops or resisted orders when stopped. Many times I went to traffic court if I was wrongly ticketed. The cops in traffic court acted like shy 16 year old girls, because the boss there was the Judge.
I am thinking there was some previous interaction that set this off. Hard to believe 5 officers were all that pissed off because Nichols ran.
