"A Kremlin insider warned Thursday that Russia could start a nuclear war if it lost its conventional war in Ukraine.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of Russia’s security council and a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, made the threat in a post on the Telegram messaging app...."

A true American is concerned about many things at once, including national defense and international threats along with immigration.
Politics is how we could be protecting the border and arming Ukraine at the same time under a Republican president when Trump was in office, while now being passive while Russia rebuilds its empire is not going to have Biden switching the money over to protecting the border.
Do you people really believe that the reason we have open borders is because of our assisting Ukraine?
Because the word “Soviet” was replaced by the word “Russia” that doesn’t mean the old Soviet modus operandi has fundamentally changed.
The ex-invaded Eastern European countries, including Ukraine, had been under Russian occupation for decades... they lived through hell under forced Russian/Soviet rule.
When the Soviet/Russian system momentarily collapsed, those previously occupied nations suddenly regained their freedom. But at that point they had no army to protect themselves in case Russia decided to occupy them AGAIN...
That’s why all previously occupied European eastern countries by Russia ran to NATO for urgent protection.
Without NATO, those eastern countries would already have been taken back by Russia. Proof : Ukraine wasn’t part of NATO - thus it was invaded by Russia!
The problem with the Soviet-Union or Russia is that since WWII they have always had a policy to colonize and expand into any country close to their borders. It continues today.
NATO is just trying to hinder further post WWII traditional Russian expansion. It’s the whole point of NATO. It’s a defensive organization.
Also :
What is often forgotten is that it is the CSTO that is helping Russias expansion policies. CSTO = Collective Security Treaty Organization. That is Russia’s own NATO equivalent. CSTO operates as an offensive organization.
So yes, it’s not only Russia attacking Ukraine right now, but the ENTIRE CSTO organization that is helping making this possible.
CSTO

Their Dear Leader is a KGB guy. That takes some chutzpah to act like everything’s not that same crap.
Obviously. John McCain caused 800 years of Russian aggression against its neighbors. /sarcasm
You are correct that, but for the United States, the current war would not be happening. Because the Russians would already have murdered, raped and looted their way across the lands of the Little Russians, and, given that for each conquest Russia makes, its finds not peace of mind, but a new neighbor, and a new opportunity for a “simple border struggle”, the lands of the Poles, the Lithuanians, the Estonians, the Finns, the Latvians, the Romanians, the Germans, the Swedes, the Hungarians, the Czechs, the Slovaks, the Slovenes, and all the Balkan peoples. Although I suspect the Serbs, and possibly the Bulgarians, would have joined in voluntarily.
But that fact neither excuses Russia's actions, nor condemns ours.
With whom?
Mr. InBetween.
It’s a good show.
“Only faggots use LARP as a term.”
And you didn’t just use it?
“The US faced no existential threat.”
But much of an American generation did.
Millions would have died if the U.S. invaded Japan. The nuclear weapons used actually saved lives. I’m not saying that makes it right that they were used. It’s just a fact that their use saved millions of lives.
President Reagan said, "Mister Secretary Gorbachev tear down this wall." He was the General Secretary of the Communist party and that doesn't exist anymore. To say that the rest of the Soviet Republics had nothing to do with the Soviet Union is rewriting history. They had all had united themselves under Communism. There are some Russians who wish they were still Communist but they aren't.
“themselves under Communism. “
Nice way to put ‘subjugated into an empire’
No, Reagan knew that Russia was the empire master of slave states and that was proven once Russia’s grip loosened and they all started escaping as fast as they could, they started seeking NATO membership and protection from the evil empire.
Those nations are not evil in themselves, but Russia is.
Agreed.
“No way Russia gives up Crimea. It would be like ceding Moscow.”
Crimea is actually a peninsula of Ukraine. It has no physical or geologic connection to Russia at all. The closest point between Russia and Crimea is at the Strait of Kerch, separating the Black Sea from the Sea of Azov on a north-west axis; which also separates Ukraine from Russia on an east-west axis. Crimea is west of the Strait, in Ukraine.
Ever heard of Pearl Harbor, genius?
It’s clear that Russia can do no wrong to these people and the USA can do no right. Forever.
This is a very strange ‘conservative’ site with so many that seem to flat out hate everything about the USA.
Not your father’s FR, that’s for sure...
Re: My post #114: I meant to say north-SOUTH axis, not north-WEST axis.
Russians fighting for their existence, higgmeister-troll? That ended in 1945, if you happen to know. Who in his right mind wants to fight Russia, with its unlimited resources and its frightening nuclear potential? Their inferiority complex comes from the deep knowledge of themselves, of who they actually are: slaves ruled by a bunch of thugs. Only one nation has the nerve to blackmail whole world by the nuclear Holocaust using “NATO expansion” pretext. They cowardly “guaranteed” Ukraine security in the nineties and grabbed Ukraine’s nukes, the very same nukes they threaten to use now against the world. So, cry me a river on Russia’s insecurity, tovarisch…
Unlike you simple minded Russians other people can contemplate and act on multiple issues in a multipolar world.
Sorry you’re not intelligent enough or empathetic enough to recognize something most people take for granted.
