A tense moment on the House of Representatives floor resulted in a Republican member physically lunging at another who then had to be restrained from further escalation.
The scuffle happened between Reps-elect Mike Rogers, R-Ala., and Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., after the 14th House speaker vote failed.
Gaetz was discussing with Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., the possibility of backing him in the next vote and appeared to mouth the worth "committee."
Gaetz is currently on the House Armed Services Committee, which is chaired by Rogers.
McCarthy appeared to agree and returned to his seat. Rogers, having witnessed the interaction, then walked up to Gaetz’s row and made a move toward him.
Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., intervened and physically restrained Rogers, pulling him back by his shoulders in full view of C-SPAN’s cameras.
Rogers could then be seen appearing to yell: "I won’t forget this!"
In the 15th and final vote, McCarthy was officially elected speaker with Gaetz voting "present."

Especially if the House Rules incorporate the changes promised by McCarthy to the Freedom Caucus.
This wrangle is a long way from over yet.
Too many RINOs enjoy doing their lobbyist pay offs away from the public eye.They need the dark to scuttle around in.
If the Dems were true to form they would vote for the changes in the false hope that it would destroy the GOP PACs and payola arrangements otherwise possible.
Most of the RINOs will refuse to vote for the changes. Watch what happens.And you know what......McCarthy is counting on that.
Thats why you had 6 hold outs who know the score and were pressuring McCarthy for committee assignments on the House Rules Committee, which decides which legislation is marked up to go top the floor, including the upcoming House Rules bill next week.
The Freedom Caucus needs lots of air time on TV.America needs to know whats going on.

Rogers probably won’t have anyone challenging him. The voters won’t push for anyone to challenge him and he’ll be sent back.
That’s the sad state of affairs we’re in, as a country. These POSs get embedded like ticks and it takes a lot to get rid of them. Even when they are disasters.
This guy will show back up in his district and say all the right things.
In Alabama, probably a lot like Georgia. God, Guns & and the 2nd Amendment, the military, low taxes. Mention those 4 things and you’re darn near a lock. No one pays attention to how these very same folks sell everyone out ona daily basis. Just mention those 4 things and you’re good.
And if you really want to be pushed over the top, have a fundraiser where they raffle off an AR or a nice pistol. That really shows what a 2A supporter you are.
If Gaetz snagged his committee chairmanship I can’t blame Rogers for being mad. But so sad too bad. Get the best conservative possible.
Alabama voters need to remember that Shelby is an old Democrat who switched in the swing away from Dems in the 90s. And he is 88. There are sharp 88 year olds but I haven’t seen any capable of operating well enough to keep the high pace in DC. Look at Shelby’s staff. All staffers for many of these old people are the power. If you have a weak/liberal staff, they tell you what you need to do. Just my opinion.
Gaetz should test him immediately. The first time McCarthy goes back on his word (probably next week), Gaetz should put forth a motion to vacate the chair.
Other than committee investigations which will be meaningless without DoJ penalties and rewriting House rules, nothing of value can be done in the next two years. All the House can do is oerform Buckley’s old bromide. Stand on the tracks and yell STOP.
