Russian President Vladimir Putin blasted the West for trying to "tear apart" Russia, in extracts from an interview to be aired on national television later Sunday.
"At the core of it all is the policy of our geopolitical opponents aiming to tear apart Russia, historical Russia," Putin said.
"They have always tried to 'divide and conquer'... Our goal is something else -- to unite the Russian people," he said.
Putin has used the concept of "historical Russia" to argue that Ukrainians and Russians are one people -- undermining Kyiv's sovereignty and justifying his 10-month offensive in Ukraine.
"We are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, of our people," Putin said.
The president repeated claims that Moscow was "ready to negotiate with all participants in this process (to find) an acceptable solution" to the conflict.
In his first trip outside Ukraine since the offensive began in February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earned firm pledges of support from US President Joe Biden, including the Pentagon's most advanced air defense system.
"Of course, we will destroy it, 100 percent!" Putin said, referring to the Patriot missile battery promised to Zelensky.
How many did it take to instigate violence at the J6 rally? People get caught up in something that many did not want, and whose only real involvement was perhaps trespassing, just like they saw happen when the Senate was confirming Kavanaugh. However, the J6 were labeled as insurrectionists, even though no guns were found, and the vast majority committed no acts of violence after entering the Capitol Building. Why were none of those whose involvement was on a major scale, of inciting violence, never even arrested. Ray Epps, ever heard of him? Those located on the tower encouraging people to go inside the Capitol, and others. You're a naive little person, but you think you have all the answers.

Nonsense. Supporting Ukraine’s defense against an existential threat from a bigger and stronger neighbor can be a stand-alone position. Moreover, there is no ethnic cleansing of Russian-speakers in Ukraine. If there were, Zelensky himself would have been the prime target, because he is a Russian-speaker, and grew up speaking Russian.

Who am I? I’m an American of Italian heritage. I have no connections with Ukraine. I am also, however, a student of history and I see clear parallels between the rise of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany in the 1930s with the rise of neo-Nazi inspired Eurasianism in today’s Russia under Putin.
Very sorry, but the division of Germany after 1945 had not been planned - except for the “former East Germany”, i.e. the territories given to Poland and the USSR. At first, all four Powers wanted to treat Germany, or what was left of her, as a single unit.
But in fact, it turned out that there were too many disagreements between the occupying Powers (or rather, between the USSR on one side and the three Western Powers on the other) about the fate of a future Germany (communist or not?).
Thus, two states evolved.

As for respect, that is a distinction that is EARNED. Dignity, on the other hand, is inherent.
Thus, while someone is deserving of dignity, he or she is not entitled to my respect until they have earned it.

If you can, then my suspicions about you being a poor student are confirmed. By saving our nation, you have the real possibility to one day be able to provide Ukraine with that freedom they desire & deserve. But what you are doing by continued support of this conflict, is to only make that possibility quite unlikely. As I said, once this nation falls, the whole world falls.
Quit being the useful idiot. Stop and realize what is going on. Let's see what can be accomplished by stopping the war and working in earnest to fashion a peace agreement. Right now evil has a firm grip upon the world, and we must stand together to defeat that evil. That evil is global, within us and beyond, and its roots are the elites of the world.
There is more going on than Russia invading Ukraine, and Ukraine played a big role in making this conflict materialize in the first place.
By signalling out the Russian Ukrainians as targets, much like the Nazis did to the Jews & others. Like the Jews these people have lived in harmony together for decades upon decades. They intermarry etc.
They made it illegal for Russian language to be taught in schools. They made it illegal to speak Russian in the public square. Then they made it illegal to speak it at work. They legitimatized the neo-Nazis by creating the Azov regiment. They let them run free to terrorize the Russian Ukrainian citizens, for the last 8 years. Guessed you missed that reality also. Perhaps you need some honest textbooks for your studies.

You are clueless, son. The capitalization of the first letter of the descriptive started with racists who sought to denigrate and demean those who were “the others.” Thus, what began as an attempt to elevate one’s own tribe on the one hand and minimize and subtract those who were not so situated, turned out to brand the former as the racists they were. The cheap gilding of the capitalization backfired.
No capitalization is necessary for such adjectives; the word itself is sufficient, and any embellishment is pretentious, and shoddy, and serves only to degrade that which it had sought to elevate.

Problem for Ukraine is the same as what a fellow from Bosnia told me. If you’re a small country in Europe you just get pushed around. The Turks, Germans, Russians, British, Americans, etc. just use you and dragoon you into their inter-tribal squabbles.
