Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) claimed Friday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Republicans were “not concerned about being successful” because they got elected to Congress to “destroy” the Democratic Party.

Discussing the COVID aid bills, host Chris Hayes said, “Are you confident that a House Majority under Kevin McCarthy can do that? Should there be a national emergency like that? When the chips are down, to deliver on a bipartisan basis that kind of thing?”

Speaking of Maxine - what is she seeking to accomplish by subpoenaing SBF? There is almost no time left in the Congressional session. How could you possibly gear up for a meaningful hearing at this point, shortly before the Christmas recess, and then the change in House leadership? I find her public comments curious. Is she trying to call him to get him to expand upon his comments on supporting GOP candidates through dark money contribution to PACs? Is she trying to inoculate herself?

Whatever real investigation gets done in the House will be done under GOP leadership, and we are now in the looming shadow of the next Congress. I do not understand what she thought she was accomplishing with these calls for SBF testimony.
