Congressional mail response
Nov 15, 2022 | Yours truly

Posted on 11/16/2022 12:29:42 PM PST by robowombat

During the month of October I sent two letters to my Representative , Steve Scalise and two to Senator John Kennedy. These were real hard copy correspondence. To date none have been answered. A staffer from Scalise's officecalled about three weeks later. H knew nothing about one of the letters and little about the other. He called the letter an 'e-mail' which means he didn't even bother to look at the document. He said he would 'try' to get a response back. So far no response. Called Scalise's office today, did speak to some staffer who knew nothing about the issue. Same run around. Will try to get a response out. John Kennedy's offices don't even have real people answering the phones, just a voicemail dump. Have other Freepers had similar experiences. Is the 'new normal' just to ignore constituent mail?

I had dinner with a judge here in town. He told me he sent letters to both our senators and a congressman and never heard back.

He’s been a judge for many years and is well known in our county.

So it’s probably not just you.

Funny...you seem to think they care about what you think.

I also sent a hard snail mail to SEN Tom Cotton of AR. No response. I have found that the letters that are critical go unanswered. Letters of praise get an immediate response. My Representative has been very responsive although it is not want I want to hear.

With all of the massive voting fraud, why should your Congresscritter care what you think? Your vote really isn't all that important, since they can just pay for more mail in ballots to cancel yours. This is just a sign of the times.

They are no longer even pretending to care about constituents.

My wife emails both our Senators, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and our Representative Donald McEachin, occasionally, and her emails request their stand on specific issues, immigration primarily.

The senators never reply.
McEachin does, but only with boilerplate.

YUP.

Dont bother, they will ignore you UNLESS you set up a meeting at your local office.

I handed them folders of forestry studies favoring short wood harvesting over whole tree at a meeting and NEVER EVEN got any response what-so-ever back.

But you offer them a million bucks for the “next” campaign and WALLA! Your in like Flynn.
Like Trump said about Willard when Willard ran for POTUS. Willard just about got his knee pads on to get Trumps support.

I called my idiot dem senator Patty Murray with a question about billions for Ukraine but the end of food benefits for American families put out of. work by shutdowns.
They promised to call me back but never did.

I called my Repub congresswoman, Patty McMorris Rogers with the same question. They promised to get back to me and did. The answer they provided was very good.

Why would they care about constituents when they are elected by machines instead of voters now?

Typing from experience, your response should have been a form letter saying "Thank you for contacting......."

They don't read them and couldn't give a crap.......

Oh, believe me, they care enormously about their constituents. The only problem is that the voters in their districts or states are not their actual constituents- their actual constituents are the individuals and organizations who pay for their re-election campaigns. And despite what people may think, this is not a recent phenomenon. My son was an infantryman in the original invasion of Iraq back in March of 2003. I’d heard through a website set up for soldiers’ families that the troops were having trouble getting fresh water in the first weeks after they’d crossed the border. I wrote to both my senators and the Representative for our congressional district, all three letters hand-written and respectfully requesting if they could look into the problem. I never heard from any of them.

“They are no longer even pretending to care about constituents.”
True. Twenty years ago Feinstein and Boxer replied to my letters with a form letter saying “thank you.” In 2004 my father spent several hours drafting a letter to President Bush about nuclear power. No response. Very crushing.

Makes one wonder just who represents who, doesn’t it?
