Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is indicating to GOP donors that he has no plans to challenge former President Donald Trump in 2024, Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman reported on Wednesday.

They both are very driven. I can’t see one wanting to be VP.
Yup, DeSantis should be Trump’s VP for a variety of obvious reasons.

I’m not sure Trump wants to run, but if he says that now, it would take away a lot of his clout. And that doesn’t help either DeSantis or Trump.
And DeSantis is focused on his current governorship election. Crist is being promoted heavily by the Dems and money is flowing in to him.
Smart move.
If Trump runs, he’s the nominee... If Desantis buys into the Never Trumper bs and decides to challenge, it will harm him long term.
Trump had an election stolen from him, his supporters are not going to go anywhere, if he is on the ballot, he will get their votes, period.
If Trump doesn’t run, Desantis will have a clear shot, and would likely be the defacto nominee.. but with Trump on the ballot, he would just harm himself down the road to appease the NeverTrumpers in the short run.
Yup. Trump back in 2025 to tamp down the mess Biden made both here at home and overseas and DeSantis Trump’s protege for four years, it will place DeSantis in the ideal, spot for 2028. He will be unbeatable. It will take 12 years of a Trump/DeSantis team bring this country back from economic extinction.

That could very well be true. I have heard comments from women saying Trump reminds them of their ex-husband.
But if Trump runs in 2024, he gets my full throated support.

Finally, someone who is awake. Trump is doing what he can to help save America, but it is likely he is teasing a run that won’t happen.
No likely, not desirable in 2024, not great for DeSantis in 2028 if the team loses in 2024.

I’d reluctantly support him but this act of his is getting tired and old. (Past its “due date.” Too much ego (as LeBron James demonstrates) is a very ugly thing. He calls DeSantis fat; undercuts O’Dea. Takes credit for everything under the sun.

Plus DeSantis doesn't really need much more donations. He will win with one hand tied behind his back.

Every FReeper knows that DeSantis is our second choice, and what the hell is "..." with such an absurd line as "But if Trump doesn't run".
I apologize to all nitwits, you are dumber than that.
Not to worry, FRiend. Trump is readying “schedule F” legislation that greatly eases requirements permitting govt. firings, which he has big plans to use to reduce govt. cabinets, employees, etc. Govt. employees unions are aware and will file suit to stop it.
Further, he has several dozen lawyers currently vetted who are currently vetting thousands of employees to fill deep-state firings. Those who act counter to his administration’s policies —as we saw for 4 years—will be fired and replaced.
As for DeSantis, he’ll be termed out in ‘26, at which time it will be ideal to bring him in to get the lay of the land in current-day DC. Maybe AG, maybe something else, from which he’d gain visibility and be able to mount a presidential campaign.
It all looks good from here up to ‘24, ‘28, ‘32 at the end of DeSantis’ second term in ‘35. I can check out then, knowing the republic is safe. Lake & Youngkin can take it from there.
Step #1 begins Tuesday. I beg everyone not to miss your chance to bury the bastards good and deep.
My dream team is : DeSantis + Kari Lake or Tulsi Gabbard....
Love Trump, but he just cannot stay focused on what he needs to. He chases too may rabbits down empty holes. Forget the personal bashing. Forget the 2020 election talk.. Just focus on his vision for fixing America. Maybe even do a mea culpa in some way, about his brash and abrasive approach to everything... Watch how DeSantis and Kari Lake handle the fake news and barbs from everyone. They push back with facts and do it in a very effective way.
