DeSantis endorses O'Dea in Colorado Senate race, bucking Trump
DC Examiner ^ | 10/23/2022 | David Drucker

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is recording a robocall for underdog Senate contender Joe O’Dea, a boost for the Colorado Republican after former President Donald Trump urged grassroots conservatives to abandon his campaign.

“Hello this is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. America needs strong leadership and desperately. That’s why I’m endorsing Joe O’Dea for U.S. Senate. Colorado, please vote for Joe O’Dea,” DeSantis says in the robocall, a recording of which was provided to the Washington Examiner on Sunday by the O’Dea campaign. “I’ve watched Joe from a distance. And I’m impressed.”

In endorsing O’Dea, DeSantis is charting a course separate from Trump in the midterm elections and stoking speculation the two Republican heavyweights are on a collision course in the upcoming 2024 GOP presidential primary. Just days earlier, the former president lashed out at O’Dea, calling him a “RINO,” which stands for “Republican in Name Only,” and criticizing him for speaking openly about their disagreements.

Running in a blue state that rarely elects Republicans statewide and trailing Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) in public opinion polls despite a favorable political environment, O’Dea’s strategy of distancing himself from Trump and taking centrist positions on certain issues is sensible. Bennet led O’Dea 49.5% to 42% in the RealClearPolitics average and has topped his Republican challenger in all six of the most recent surveys.

Not for the Senate. There’s 3 in the Senate he stumped for including this guy.

He's stumped for Vance, Masters, Laxalt, Oz, and of course, Rubio. And now, O'Dea.

Not to mention several gubernatorial candidates.

I get that. I don’t think the path is through CO even if I vote for O’Dea.

I was unaware of his “loyalty pledge”.

Nor mine; we do not worship a political leader.

I’m cool with DeSantis supporting his own candidate. This is a nothing burger.

He’s definitely not getting the votes from my family.

O’Dea is a horrible candidate. Made himself more horrible by saying anything. He has no chance of winning, even less without my vote.

O’Dea is not a perfect candidate. I don’t agree with all his stance on the issues.

But I’ll not support or not support a candidate because of what President Trump thinks about a candidate.

100% of the crazy Biden crap the last 2 years would hve been prevented in the senate had the crazy DONT VOTE idiots not screwed up two easily won seats in Georgia in 2020.. and 2021.

Now do you see the importance of controlling the senate? Every single crazy Biden inititiave would not have passed but for a few supposedly gop idiots who urged everyone to send a message by Not voting for the gop candidates. We won’t vote for anyone until the vote corruption is cleaned up. How did that work out exactly?

Do you ever think we will ever fully recover from the 2 million illegal aliens, the 9-12% inflatiion, the highest food and gas prices in history, etc etc etc.?

This purity notion is never justified by the damage it causes and the proponents of it never stick around to be accountable for their stupid egregious mistakes.`

Is it even really DeSantis?

Could easily be a false-flag spoof.

Even if Trump does get reelected theres only so much he can do in 4 years.
With all the law suits, impeachment, bad mouthing and false accusations from both parties and the news media, including Fox etc, etc,:

Trump accomplished more in one (4yr) term than any other President in your lifetime. Including Reagan

The choice is now O’Dea or a marxist RAT. Choose wisely.
After the election, how will we know the difference?

Just think how much more effective Trump would have been if most of Washington wasn't gunning for him.

“”I like DeSantis but he should have stayed out of this.”
Agreed. Not a good look.”

Right, maybe he should avoid anything that isn’t safe and cower in his basement.

Exactly and frankly we all need to vote for the Republicans even if the are on the tickets and RINOs. It doesn’t matter as long as they win and we take the House and Senate. That’s where we get the Repubs together and make them work TOGETHER for the good of America. It doesn’t matter if Trump endorsed the guy or not. We need to WIN people!

And your intellect tells you the DemocRat will vote to overturn Roe? As for 2016 election, no matter how many tantrums anyone throws, Biden will not be removed from white house. Why waste energy on something which can not be changed? It borders on insanity.

Smart by Desantis and Trump should endorse too bad look for Trump-just not smart on his part

Look the Dem is worse. He along with all his senate Dem colleagues voted to convict Trump. If we don’t control the Senate and House Trump gets impeached again even if he runs and wins, remember all these so called “moderate” Dems like Bennett , all voted to convict Trump on Jan 6th charge and if the Dems ever get enough Senate votes they would convict and delight in removing Trump in cuffs . Yes 6 Rinos did too but it will never come up in a GOP controlled House an Senate and yes I prefer someone who is not a Rino but that is not a choice now.
