Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News exclusively that conservative victories in Brazil, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, and more are proof that the “great movement” he leads is spreading worldwide.
“The whole thing is a great movement that’s taken place and now it’s happening all over the world,” Trump said in a phone interview on Tuesday. “It’s a very simple movement: Give us borders, give us safe streets, we don’t want crime, give us good education, give us dignity and give us respect as a nation. It’s not complicated.”

He’s right. Unfortunately the Republicans will find a way to complicate and screw things up. They are the Gang That Can’t Shoot Straight. Hand them a victory and they are certain to squander it.

I guess I don't understand the mafia-like inner workings of politics at the House and Senate leadership level. It would seem that those people could be changed out on a whim, or a shift in national mood -- like in the parliamentary countries.
So do you think it's because it's kinda feudal (where everybody owes fealty to someone else)? Or do you think it's because the old crony higher-ups "have something" on everybody else? Or is it both, or neither?

Both plus fund raising related leverage. Washington is money driven and party leadership is in a position to influence where it goes.
We tend to think the party represents us. It doesn’t. It serves its own interests.
