The late-blooming 2022 Atlantic Tropical Storm season is making up for lost time. A tropical system has developed in the Central Caribbean Sea. This storm system is forecast to threaten continental U.S. interests next week. While the tropical wave passed south of a key geographic area known as Hebert's Box #1, it will very likely pass through Hebert's Box #2. These boxes are useful as predictors of hurricanes that will strike South Florida. For more information about Hebert's Boxes, see Hebert Box. See graphic below which illustrated the Hebert's Boxes.

Wow. The guest power line crews in PR are about 80% done here and I’m sure prepping to go back to Florida right now.
Be safe!
Amen
That said, the storms are still real. Ignoring TWC and local news until after the storm (and relying on alternatives like storm2k or Mike) allows people to be truly informed and not misled - which allows them to make good, smart decisions.
Last big FL hurricane , The NHC Lied on purpose When the REAL Storm Track Shifted east away from the Fl west COAST and left people unprepared inland .
The NHC admitted to it and no one was Fired !
My original weekend visit to SC (I live 5 miles from the beach in Pinellas County FL) has turned into a trek. I'm not going home until the power is restored. I do have a new roof and hurricane windows at home. Here's hoping the money we spent on those was worth it. My townhouse was built in 2001, and we're in a no evac zone, yay.
FLA, you can turn the lawn sprinkler system off for now.
The weather channel should come with a laugh track
I had not heard that - no doubting at all just want to understand more. Why did the NHC lie on purpose? I’ve always considered them the gold standard and it is the site I visit to stay informed. Thanks.
I’m in Alabama and on my 30 drive to work this morning I passed over 20 large utility trucks heading south. Prayers going all to all Floridians, may God watch over and keep you safe.
Other than Jen Cargagno, they don't offer much imo.
#NOW The Rock City Campground at Charlotte Motor Speedway is opening at 9am for any #HurricaneIan evacuees. Evacuees will have access to bathhouse facilities on speedway property. #NASCAR

I’ve always wondered how you make something that sturdy when it’s built in sand

This morning I was driving to work at 5:30 in my 5-speed truck. First band coning through so it was pouring. In the middle of the road (think 19 in Clearwater) the clutch went out. I was stopped in the middle of the road, traffic tooting horns etc. I prayed. I turned on my hazards. I messed around with the clutch and got it to go another 100 feet into my WaWa (where I stop for coffee each morning). I called work, tow truck, Lyft and my mechanic. I thanked God. Then I shook for a minute! Boss said go home. I did!
Now listening to local news- they’ve ordered evacuations for lots of places in my county because we’re expecting about 18 INCHES of rain, with sustained 70-80mph winds. This is in Seminole County- 10 minutes from Orlando.
May God awaken the brains of those who MUST evacuate and keep us and our animals all safe and protected through this storm.
Odd, looks like it’s headed to Tampa there..
Has anyone in this thread ever read the John D McDonald novel Condominium?
