America will retaliate with 'a devastating strike' against Russia's military if Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons in Ukraine, the United States Army's former European commander has warned.
Retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges today said any response by America 'may not be nuclear' but warned that if Putin were to use nukes in Ukraine that the US could look to 'destroy the Black Sea Fleet or destroy Russian bases in Crimea'.
His comments come after the Russian premier sent shockwaves around the world, as he announced the 'partial mobilization' of his reserve military forces to continue his murderous invasion of Ukraine.
And in a chilling warning directed squarely at Western and Nato leaders, desperate despot Putin insisted he would use 'all means' necessary to defend swathes of territory seized or set to be annexed by Kremlin forces before threatening to use nuclear weapons.
'If there is a threat to the territorial integrity of our country, and in protecting our people we will certainly use all means to us - and I'm not bluffing,' he then added during his televised address to the Russian people on Wednesday morning.
Gen Hodges, who commanded the US Army in Europe between 2014 and 2018, stressed the 'possibility' of Putin ordering a nuclear strike on Ukraine was 'very unlikely'.
But he said the use of any strategic weapons of mass destruction would be met with a swift and severe reaction from President Joe Biden.
'He [Putin] knows the US will have to respond if Russia uses a nuclear weapon,' Gen Hodges told MailOnline.
'The US response may not be nuclear...but could very well be a devastating strike that could, for example, destroy the Black Sea Fleet or destroy Russian bases in Crimea.

That's why the neocons had to get rid of him in The Dirty Election Coup.
We wont do sh - it as long as the Dem’s are in control of the military”.
We’ll fight until the Strategic Oil Reserves are depleted.
Oh, wait...
“Again I ask-—what strategic value the Ukraine has for the safety and security of the USA?”
Thanks to Russia’s evil aggression, we’ll deal with Russia if necessary. We’re not going to allow another Soviet Union to be consolidated and built up first.
-This is not a strategic reason to start WWIII in the Ukraine. What long term value does the Ukraine serve to the USA? NONE.
-So now you are going to dictate internal politics in Russia? You demand the right to tell the Russian people who their leaders are going to be and how they run their country? We wouldn’t put up with such horse shi*t anymore than they would.
-The Russians and Ukrainians had a peace deal in April-Russia removes it’s armed forces and the Ukraine agrees not to join NATO and the western so-called democracies sent Boris Johnson to tell the Ukrainians, hell no we want war and Putin removed from office. They had a settlement that BOTH had agreed to and your warmonger crowd screamed war-war-war! Such waste and idiocy...
Stealing that meme.
Loved the movie.
That username is like...you know...just so cool, dude. Like...right on, man. Far out...

Well said bump!
Hate to say it but I think the nuts running our country are planning for nuclear war.
Europe, Russia and US will suffer horribly from your Third World War and our real enemy the Chinese will celebrate your gullibility and their good fortune to have the such incompetent and blind warmongers in charge in the west who destroyed themselves to get their Pyrrhic victory and handed them the rest of the world without a fight.
We will all pay a dreadful price for your bloodlust and anti-US behavior and for fighting yet another war using the last wars tactics-things have changed since 1945 and 1989 tremendously and you and the rest of the backward thinking foreign policy establishment are stuck in time, unwilling to adapt or overcome the new challenges.
If you get your wish and WWIII you will quickly find that having is not as pleasing a thing as wanting. And we will all pay a dreadful price for your b
lol
I don’t see us using nukes. But a well placed Moab or two on a Black Sea naval base….
Why do you sympathize with the likes of this?

The delusion that only light intensity conflict would happen in the future was foolish. Some of the communist/fascist nations will eventually try to expand and attack after saturating their victim nations with propaganda and other means of control. They regard diplomacy as a tool to buy them time to build up for that attack.
The writing has been on the wall for a long time with China and Russia pushing around for points of control ocean routes. Our choice is whether to defend or be defeated and enslaved.
“Russia isn’t going to nuke the Uke.”
^^^ This. Putin has won the bulk of what he wanted. Now it’s time for him to freeze the gains into a permanent expansion of Russian territory by an agreement to cease fire and freeze in place.
The “elections,” the annexation of eastern Ukraine, the mobilization, and the nuke threat are chips on that bargaining table.
The trouble is, Biden has backed the US into a corner. If we agree to the Russian gains, Biden has lost and spent billions and billions doing so. The media can only cover for him so much. So there will be no agreement before the midterms at a minimum.
After the midterms, Biden either loses a war by giving the Russians their gains or keeps tossing money down a rat hole. At a certain point, Biden will lose control of the issue because the Europeans are going to be forced to the bargaining table by freezing people and plummeting economies.
(When I say Biden, I am actually referring to whichever neocons are making the decisions in the white house).
Wrongful desires? The desire to not fight in a war we don’t belong in is now wrong? You and you arm chair generals are the ones butting into yet another war which we have no business in whatsoever. I swear to God some of you people would declare war on a flock or lambs if you had no one else to fight. You are right it is Russia and the Ukraine’s war not ours as bad as that upsets you. So now I’m a commie because I don’t support your blind march to WWIII when it is not necessary. It’s a warmonger and a backward thinker who wants to fight any where and everywhere all the time.
You clearly cannot articulate what is the strategic reason to fight WWIII in the Ukraine other than you want to get the Russians mentality.
I have made no such excuses about China or Taiwan, but clearly stated China is a clear and present danger to us and the Pacific. They are where we should be focused right now not the Ukraine. It clearly is in our interests to remain engaged in the far east and to defend treaty allies.
I sympathize with all caught up in this war. I am enjoying Ivan getting throat punched-—IF-IF one can believe the propaganda out of the Ukraine—I don’t believe it anymore than I believe the Russian or US intelligence BS.
The US intelligence community couldn’t tell the truth if their lives depended on it, watching their never ending screw ups since the end of the Cold War has taught me they lie and they lie a lot and they screw up a lot and as a result have got thousands of American GI’s as well as citizens: killed, wounded or disabled for life, without any consequences to their failures. You all have been fooled time and again by this bunch since 1992 and still you hang on their every word.
Russia has been well contained and they have access already to access to the oceans. The Russian navy aside from their submarines is abysmal and not a threat for the most part.
The Chinese ARE a major threat and where we should be concentrating our attention instead of the Ukraine. For some reason the warmonger crowd seems to think it is 1988 and we are prepared to fight a two front war—we are not capable of doing this against two major powers anymore.
China is our main enemy and they need our attention. China is going to turn on Russia if they ever deal us a death blow in the Pacific.
