King Charles III was officially proclaimed Britain’s monarch Saturday in a pomp-filled ceremony steeped in ancient tradition and political symbolism — and, for the first time, broadcast live online and on air.
Scores of senior British politicians past and present, including new Prime Minister Liz Truss and five of her predecessors, gathered in the ornate state apartments at St. James’s Palace for the meeting of the Accession Council. They met without Charles, officially confirming his title, King Charles III. The king then joined them, vowing to follow his mother’s “inspiring example” as he took on the duties of monarch. The new king formally approved a series of orders — including one declaring the day of his mother’s funeral a public holiday. The date of the state funeral has not been announced, but it is expected to be around Sept. 19.
This is the first time the accession ceremony has been held since 1952, when Queen Elizabeth II took the throne.

They will need to dust off the 'how to ...' book for this one.

I saw in a related article that Charles specifically told Harry not to bring Meghan to Balmoral. The family on the 'royal family' plane from London to Aberdeen refused Harry a seat, so he had to take a separate plane. Harry learned of his mother's death while his plane was still in the air.

I only know it was confirmed Harry did not see the Queen before she died.
Harry wanted to be an “outsider” and is learning what that actually means.
As for Megan - she’s done so much damage to herself I don’t think she can possible turn it around - even a little. Brits don’t want her there period.

I think it was Charles who insisted she be accepted as his wife. Would be fair to say threatened if she wasn't allowed.
Interesting is Charles has been decades ‘The King in Waiting”.....but the Queen showed the world and Charles she would continue her duties for life and she did just that. Regardless of what Charles wanted to see as himself as King.
Charles will be 74 in November. One of the things we have known of him is his love of being 'served' far more than 'serving' others. Camila has curtailed much of that.
