The FBI seized over 50 empty folders marked “CLASSIFIED” during last month’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
According to a more detailed property receipt of the seized documents, the FBI discovered 43 empty folders with classified banners in Trump’s office and several others in the former president’s storage room.

When I worked on classified projects, I had a drawer full of various classified coversheets in case I needed to cover up classified materials if I had a visitor at my desk. The coversheets themselves are not classified.
That explains them being there over 9 hours and turning the place upside down looking for those documents.
They were or are presuming those documents are missing or have been removed.
Why have a bunch of empty classified folders?

Department of Energy requires that Secret documents have on them, the author’s name, a date, and an Unclassified title. If this is true for other agencies, (and I don’t know why it wouldn’t be), there seems to be nothing to prevent them from releasing a list of documents with their dates, titles, and authors. Nothing is classified about any of that and it would provide a lot if insight into what the issues are.. or aren’t.
