Proposing to allow open drug dens in two of California’s most crime-laden, homeless and vagrant-filled cities is the equivalent of taking a recovering alcoholic to an open bar at a large wedding. Fortunately, Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed Senate Bill 57, which passed by both houses of the California Legislature along party lines.
SB 57 would have allowed for the open operation of drug dens in Los Angeles and San Francisco Counties. Ironically, Democrats referred to the bill as the “overdose prevention program.”

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Newsom runnig for president may slow down the insane legislation being passed in California
Yet it’s astounding any such bill could pass any state legislation, even in californica.

Electing democrats is like invited thieves to visit a open bank vault.

One odd aspect of the drug-den chatter...it would have appeared that the local communities, using county/state funds...would have run or at least supervised the drug-dens. Go and try to explain that to the majority of voters.
The proposition process is screwed up here. We need a prop that lowers car registration fees and other tax reducing measures. I know that the Rats didn’t meet a tax they didn’t like, but come on Republicants, get your asses in gear and form a proposition to lower taxes. The public is ripe for this. It’s getting close for me to move outta here.
That kind of insanity at least partially explains why I see so many crazyfornia license plates in my state.
It ticks me off to no end but at the same time I get it.
Treatment centers do not eliminate the drug problem....rather they encourage addiction. Just ask Oregon. In just one city they have 45 treatment centers which report 94% of those treated return to their addiction.
Hmm, running for president?
There’s no need for additional open drug dens in a state with LA and SF.
Newsom would’ve happily signed it if he wasn’t now thinking about running for president in 2024.
No wonder it has become the fustercluck that it is today.
I believe you are correct
Yup
Had they gotten their state opium dens approved, the next thing would be that the state should have to PAY for the drugs and everything else. And the first fool to overdose or die in one would all-of-a-sudden have ‘relatives’ who’d sue California to oblivion.
No kidding. Did wonders for china back in the day.
Yup. And starts out with quite a few EC votes.
They better start taking him down NOW instead of sitting on their fat asses and waiting till its late.
That was my first thought. Otherwise, it would have been taxpayer-subsidized drug dens and brothels.
would come back to bite him during his prez campaign
