The daughter of an ultranationalist Russian ideologue believed to have had a strong influence on Vladimir Putin has been killed in a car bomb on the outskirts of Moscow, according to multiple media reports. Darya Dugin, daughter of Russian political commentator Alexander Dugin – dubbed “Putin’s brain” – died when the Toyota Land Cruiser she was driving was ripped apart by a powerful explosion about 20km west of the capital at around 9.30pm local time. The blast occurred near the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy, according to Russian media sites Baza and 112, and state-owned Novaya Gazeta. Witnesses said debris was thrown all over the road as the car was engulfed in flames before crashing into a fence, according to reports. Emergency services said there had been one person in the car and that they died at the scene. Andrey Krasnov, a friend of Dugina and the head of the Russian Horizon social movement, confirmed the reports, according to the news agency Tass. He said that the bomb could have been intended for her father.

There is warning here.

Ukranian officials are not the only ones in danger. Also, their families.

They cannot be careless or arrogant about their safety.

Do the Ukes have people in Moscow?

Maybe.

Another possibility is that this is the first shot in a palace coup.

Either way. There are diminishing chances that this will be a one off.

More pressure on Putin.

Probably CIA.

More likely MI6 and/or its affiliates...and there is some speculation that the daughter was the intended target.

“with the Russians slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainian women and children.”

How many has Ukraine killed in the Donbass region since the coup in 2014 ? Just as many if not more .

The Russian security services are notoriously bloody and amoral. They might well have killed the woman in order to provide a pretext for killing Zelensky, his daughter, or other Ukrainian notables.

I know people there and that’s not true.
Apparently, some that, rightfully, decry Western and Ukrainian propaganda swallow the Russian variety, hook, line and sinker.
About an equal number of Ukrainians have been killed.
Ukraine had very little military presence in the east when the Russians and their proxies took over and started killing Ukrainians and driving them out.
This is the same thing Russia has done in Georgia, Chechnya and Moldova.

Give the Russian propaganda a break, dude

there was no slaughter in the Donbas ... because otherwise, Russia could have presented its case in front of the UN and got full World support

but that never happened ... because there was no slaughter

it’s all Russian lies

For all those alleging the involvement of the Ukrainians or foreign intelligence in this attack, ask your self this:

If you have assets in Moscow to assassinate a top Russian, why waste it on a propagandist?

If the Allies had the assets in Berlin in 1943 to take out a top Nazi, they would have killed Hitler, Himmler, Goering, or the General Staff, not Goebbels, who was not involved in conducting the war.

You only get a shot like this once, you don’t waste it on a secondary target.

Who is low enough to murder the daughter of a Russian Orthodox political philosopher in Russia? My list in descending order: Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States.

It makes me sick to have to put the USA on the suspect list; but given recent history (decades of droning) of targeted killings, it must be on there.

Putting the UK on the list of suspects is less difficult for me.

Ukraine? No, of course not.

The man was targeted for assassination for being Putin’s brain. The unsuccessful flank attack was on Putin.

How many has Ukraine killed in the Donbass region since the coup in 2014 ? Just as many if not more .

The original source of the high estimates of 14,000 civilians is the Donbas MILITANT LEADER who has even admitted he made it up.

Not even the Donbas Administration agrees with his numbers. That statistic is wheeled out by Russian propagandists and assorted useful idiots despite the figures being disputed by the UN, international observers, and even  The Donetsk People's Republic's OWN PUBLISHED STATISTICS .

For example, the PDF titled "Annual Report of the Human Rights Ombudsman in the Donetsk People’s Republic 2020".

Since the outbreak of the conflict, 4,959 people lost their lives in the Donetsk People’s Republic, including 90 children (Diagram 4).

Most of the casualties fall on 2014 – 2,546 deaths and on 2015 – 1,395 deaths. In 2016, 348 people died as a result of the armed aggression, including three children, in 2017 – 278 people, including three minors, in 2018 – 154 people, including five minors . In 2019 – 160 people were killed, of whom 151 are servicemen of the Republic, six civilian women and three civilian men.

Within the period between 1 January and 1 December 2020, in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic as a result of armed aggression by Ukraine 39 servicemen of the Republic and 5 civilians were killed.

Scroll to page 21. There's a nice diagram. Followed by a clear statement to the effect of "no genocide here"...

It is worth noting that the signing of peace  agreements helped to reduce the intensity of hostilities. Thus, the number of deaths among the residents of the Donetsk People's Republic decreased by 9 times in 2017  compared to 2014, in 2019 – almost by 17 times, in 2020 – by 50 times. These dynamics reflect the measures within the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, as well as ceasefire agreements.

At the  same  time, a  decrease in casualties among the civilian population was facilitated  by the unlimited truce announced in Donbass on 21 July 2019.

Since  1 January 2020, as a result of the armed conflict  in  the  territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, 44 people have been killed (Diagram 6)."

This is the official report sent to the United Nations AND to the Kremlin. It reports higher numbers than the UN, Ukrainian and European official counts. And it still falls far short of reporting genocide. 44 dead civilians (on both sides, not just on the Russian side) over the entire 12 month reporting period does not constitute a genocide. The figures for 2021 don't either.

Given the size of Donbas, and the population (millions) it would only qualify as a genocide if EVERY ONE of those deaths could be directly attributed to deliberate targeting of Russian noncombatants by Azov. But the DPR itself says that is not the case.

If you want to know about mass civilian deaths in Donbass due to conflict., the Special Military Operation created more civilian casualties in that region the first five weeks than the Donbas conflict managed to create in the first five years covered by the DNR Ombudsman's reports.

War is hell indeed; and there is plenty of guilt to assign over this stupid war. But I don’t approve of gloating over the murder of someone’s kid.

There’s a certain irony here, in that she was the daughter of the guy who pushed for this war ...

but, she’d probably still be alive today if Russia hadn’t invaded
