Howdy, luvie.
Still enjoying decent temps down there today? Shadow looked content.
Cloudy and fairly cool here until the sun came out late this afternoon. Still not too hot but the humidity was more noticeable then.
YAY for some rain but BOO on that wind. I haven’t been able to see what’s going on up there lately because they can’t seem to get that dratted cam to work. GRRRRR! I miss the views and the planes.
What a mess in the creek behind your house! You weren’t kidding about it. Were you able to get in touch with anyone at the watershed management office?
SF Bay Area here. Yesterday about 2:47 PM Pacific Time I heard (but did not see) an INCREDIBLY loud plane go by, westbound. I expected to see some sort of military aircraft, but it was gone.
Good evening, Mooch...hints that it is coming are starting to be seen. A few leaves can be seen changing color, but no snow on the mountains that I’ve seen yet. I’m not ready.
Have you finally gotten the heat wave to move along?
I complained about no rain for so long, and now it just keeps coming a little at a time.
Early bedtime sounds like it’s needed, especially after the rude awakening last night. I gather it was a large plane since you think it might have been cargo. It’s my understanding that none of the large planes are supposed to fly low over the city, day or night. They come in for landing and they take off over the water. Even the smaller private jets. That was a weird occurrence last night.
Planes that you don’t usually see or hear or whatever cause a bit of concern.
I live pretty close to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage...last 2 days I’ve been hearing jets over the city. Unusual except when practicing for air shows (which was a couple weeks ago).
I know the russians have been probing and I always wonder what might be going on.
2nd!!
Hmmmmmm, Didn’t I just see something about a test being done in the Pacific? Two similar incidents, though at different times of day.
I didn’t think about Elmendorf. I wonder if it was one of their planes, though why it was low over town is the question. If it was one of theirs, it would have been westbound since it went over the house and apparently in a hurry. Over town rather than out over the water.
I hate not being able to see what’s going on up there! They need to get that cam working again!
3rd!!
Daddy and baby meet for the first time...so sweet! Thanks, luvie.
I did, and they came today. I never saw them, and I don’t think they were in my yard. Water is already high again. Wonder what it will look like when the rain stops. Will it float stuff downstream, or just pile up more?
Did they just show up to look at the mess or did they clean out what was there? With the water up, more stuff will probably float down and you don’t need more piled up with what was there.
I rarely hear planes after 2am...I know Alaska Airlines leave late at night. Those are the red-eye flights I took when I still traveled. And sometimes the wind is a problem and they have to use the north-south runways. But I ever hear them in the middle of the night.
Hey there, radu!
It was really nice here and we got more rain tonight! Hubby said 1/4” but the wind was blowing pretty hard and I think it was more than that. That’s TWO DAYS IN A ROW! Unheard of!
Glad it’s still cooler there. Too bad the sun had to come out. I like the sun, but it does get tiresome when it’s all. the. time.
It melted my heart. :)
Most of the flights at night seem to use the north-south runways from what I’ve seen. That keeps them from flying over the city at all. They’re all swinging around to land from the north tonight.
Except for one. I do see a Ravn Alaska jet that came up from the south flying over Taku Lake Park to land on the east-west runway now but that didn’t come close to your house.
I guess we’ll never know what the heck flew over last night. That was odd, especially at the time it happened.
Not nearly as much fun to watch what’s coming in on FlightRadar. At least there isn’t a DreamLifter heading in. It would make me mad to miss seeing one on the live cam. Loves me some DreamLifters. LOL
This is the only mess I can see from the deck.
Here I'm standing on the bridge that goes from my cul-de-sac over the creek to the school yard. My jungle to the left, city propery to the right, with a dam forming in the middle.
WOOHOO! More rain! Glad to hear it!
Sounds like you and Kathy are both having wet, windy weather.
It felt pretty good when I left this afternoon to check out the Camp Forrest exhibit in Tullahoma. But by the time I came home, the clouds were breaking up and the sun was heating things up. At least it stayed in the 80s.
Whew! Glad you got back before the humidity really cranked up. How was the exhibit? Did they have lots of cool stuff?
It was wonderful! We might have some more before the week is over. And every day is in the 80s till sometime next week. I’m happy. And relieved to have summer sliding away.
