Maybe they walked up and down the creek to see how many other spots are getting blocked like your area. Get it all at once, whenever they decide to get around to it. As I recall, the whole creek is jungly and there’s probably a lot of tree trash along its course.
It was lovely! I wanted to stand out in it, but it was too windy to be fun. LOL!
Heard you had some rain too. Has it made things look less parched? My grass is the brightest green now.
The humidity was already up today. It just didn’t feel too bad at 77 degrees with clouds. The sun and the temperature rise just made it more noticeable. It’ll be muggy the next several days but rain chances for us aren’t good until Sunday and Monday. At least we’ll stay in the 80s, like you will.
The exhibit was good but I knew it would be. Elizabeth has a fabulous collection of Camp Forrest artifacts. She displays a few things in the case they set up for her at the museum and she swaps things out periodically.
There’s also an exhibit upstairs at the arts center of WWII Chaplains’ items that I was looking forward to seeing. I saw a few pics of that collection that were taken at Carthage in May when the guys went up there for the TN Maneuvers event. It was really nice to see it in person. The owner is about to retire from showing it and it’s going to be at the museum sometime in the future.
We need the new building SOON.
I had to get up a little earlier than usual to see it. The arts center closes at 3 and I don’t normally get out of the house before then for shopping and whatever. LOL It was well worth it though.
Wow...had to get up early. It had to be an excellent display for you to sacrifice sleep for. Camp Forrest was the one that was on your land...or close to it, right?
Yesterday at Wichita Ridge.
How's everyone doing this morning?
Jungly is a perfect definition. LOL! And I hope that is what they were doing. And they could have checked the weather reports and decided to wait til the rain stops and see where the trash being washed downstream has stopped. I’m looking forward to checking out there tomorrow.
This section of the creek goes straight to the corner of the school yard and makes a 90 degree turn to follow another side of the school. The water comes out of a culvert, but from where, I don’t know.
LOL I didn’t get up real early. Just a little earlier than I normally do and sped up the routine so I could get out of here.
Yes, she has a lot of really cool items in her collection and I understand she has a huge one. She did her thesis on Camp Forrest in college and got hooked. She’s been collecting ever since. She does a lot of speaking engagements, has written two books, and is working on a third one now. I have the two.
Camp Forrest was where Arnold AF Base is now but the troops did maneuvers all over middle TN. They went wherever they wanted, including across people’s yards and farms. The military paid people for the damage to their properties. Hubby’s aunt Clara talked a little about seeing them go across this farm.
Camp Forrest was Gen. Patton’s baby and TN is where he trained the troops for D-Day and fighting in Europe. A lot of us are mighty proud of TN’s part of WWII history.
Good morning, E...((HUGS))...looks like Gizmo enjoyed his Wichita Ridge adventure. Happy dog!
You boys have a great Thursday.
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
A banner day for Gizmo at Wichita Ridge. A pretty day, lots of roaming around, and a smelly spot to roll in. LOL
There’s no telling where it comes from. I just noticed a thick tree line marking where it is and figure it must look like your pics all along its course.
Now to see how long it takes them to clear out all that mess before you do have a dam back there. It’s pretty close now!
I don’t blame you for being proud of what TN did for the war effort. It’s close and personal there in your area.
I guess I’d better say goodnight. It’s waaaay late, but I had to finish that show. LOL! See ya Saturday! Have fun at the museum this weekend. I hope you have lots of visitors.
It’s quite close and personal to us. I always knew about it while growing up but I’ve learned a lot more about it since I’ve been at the museum. The more I learn, the more fascinating it is. Who’d a-thunk all that went on here in Podunk Nowhere? LOL
I hope for a good turnout this weekend. It’s supposed to be on the rainy side and that should help. Not good lake weather.
I do know we have a couple of folks coming up Friday morning from the 6th Cavalry museum at Ft. Oglethorpe. A Jeep was donated to them a couple of years ago and they didn’t have room for it, so we’ve been keeping it for them. They just want to see the Jeep and check out the new things the museum’s acquired since they were last there. I look forward to meeting them and that will be a fun start to the weekend.
Sleep well. Enjoy the cooler weather as much as you can. I hope you get some more rain with it.
We will probably do a midday trip today. It's forecast to be a little bit cooler. It warms back up tomorrow though.
Sounds like a good day all ‘round.
Enjoy the cooler temps today. It would be nice if it STAYED cooler for a while but enjoy it while ya got it. :-)
Wonderful. It’s cooled off enough to go outside during the day.
How’s everything at the top of the world?
