President Joe Biden said he was feeling great and had got through COVID with only mild discomfort, he said Wednesday morning, but he suggested Americans should wear masks indoors as the nation grapples with the latest infectious variant.
And he paid tribute to vaccinations, which he said allowed him to stay in the White House in contrast to President Donald Trump who had to be airlifted to hospital.
'Here's the bottom line: When my predecessor got COVID he had to get helicoptered to Walter Reed Medical Center,' said Biden, 79.
'He was severely ill. Thankfully he recovered.
'I got COVID, I worked from upstairs of the White House .... for the five-day period. The difference is vaccinations of course.'
Biden was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of staffers, who whooped and cheered at the president's arrival - belying the way the White House had tried to play down his symptoms.
The occasion marked not just a personal victory lap but a chance for the administration to highlight progress in vaccinations and treatments.
'Walking out I thought I heard rumbling ... my staff saying, "Oh, he's back,"' said Biden as he began his remarks.

Not that I believe that the jab did a damn thing to help him - he just happened to get a weakened variant of it, if it was even COVID at all.
Trump was in Walter Reed for three nights. He had an office set up there and continued to work. After three nights he returned to the WH and was nearly as vigorous as usual.
And he didn’t have dementia, still doesn’t have dementia and hasn’t been stupid a day in his life much less his entire life.

I’m glad you recovered - folks ARE still dying from even the reduced strains but it is pretty rare. My wife does have a great sense of humor - but no, she didn’t say that to our son. (Hence the /s for sarcasm.)

In Biden’s video given to the black police officers meeting there are a BUNCH of splices in the 12 minute long video. I was able to suffer through about 5 minutes and I’m guessing there were 3 to 4 splices in that short amount of time.
Trump goes an hour or more at his crowded rallies, most of it off script.
Biden can’t even read his cues off a teleprompter without numerous breaks!
The covid virus recoiled from Joe quickly when he started sniffing its hair and whispering in its ear.
When you got it you had 4 shots. Trump had nothing.
