How many were in “gun-free zones,” as this one was? Seems to me we need fewer gun-free zones, or more people ignoring the signs.

Of those 433, how many took place in "gun free zones" where bystanders were not allowed to be armed? Those 22 might actually be a large percent of cases where it could have happened.
Guarantee? No. A deterrent, perhaps? I’m all for potential mass shooters being afraid to act.
Just summarizing this article’s intent
I’d like to see what the NYT considers an active shooter. Their number of 433 seems high given how much media attention is given to shootings like the Parade and Buffalo supermarket. Do they add in groups of aspiring rappers mag dumping on each other at impromptu street festivals?
If they took place in Chicago, Philadelphia, or NYC... those are all “gun free zones”.

If there were more people who were armed and trained in using a firearm for self-defense, how many more active shooter attacks would have ended with a bystander shooting an attacker?

Using leftist math, every time a leftist shooter is shot dead, it discourages 5,000 other leftists from attempting a mass shooting. That’s 300,000 lives saved annually. Or nearly 1,000 people saved each day. Let’s have three cheers for shooting leftists dead.

Here’s the reality: The cops arrived, correctly analyzed the situation and mopped up.
No lasting solution? The hero showed what our forefathers knew - the inalienable right to keep and bear arms.
