Former Trump acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Tuesday on “CNN Tonight” that he hoped former President Donald Trump doesn’t run for president in 2024.
Anchor Laura Coates asked, “If he were to run for re-election yet again, we don’t know if he intends to do that. If he is the RNC nominee, do you intend to vote for him?”
Mulvaney said, “I am one of those Republicans who hopes the former President Trump doesn’t run. In all fairness, we don’t need him anymore. He changed our party. We have a lot of folks, a new generation of folks, Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, go down the list of folks who could give us the same that Donald Trump gave without the baggage. As a Republican, I am thinking if the election were on today and Joe Biden was the nominee for the Democrats or Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom, there is probably only one mainstream Republican who could lose, and that’s Donald Trump. Knowing what I know, I would be hard pressed to support Donald Trump again.”
He added, “I think we moved beyond Donald Trump clearing the field. I think that is one thing that the January 6 committee has accomplished.”
He concluded, “To the extent they wanted to wound him politically, I think that happened. There has been polling data recently, for the first time, says that a majority of Republican primary voters would prefer somebody other than Donald Trump. That’s a big change over the course ever the last six or eight weeks.”

Trump’s “baggage” was given to him by the MSM, Left and Never Trumpers, in other words, by his enemies.
Hearing the wailing and lamentations of the Left would be worth it.
This is the very last true election where forces of good have any possible option of triumphing over pure evil - but it will take overwhelming support - votes so big they can’t possibly cheat out a win at 3AM.
People need to recognize Biden and Democrats want to totally replace our indigenous American-born population with foreigners of ANY type. They need to recognize Democrats will do ANYTHING to placate their rabid fringe base of countless varieties. They need to recognize Democrats in charge don’t give a crap about their progeny or the country they’ll inherit - they only cheat and steal and grab power for their own miserable lifetimes.
Exactly!
Honestly, some folks don’t have the ability to review and
come up with some solid reactions.
Once again, for the people who won’t read it, and couldn’t
decipher any pertinent information if they did.
Trump accomplishments.

“on CNN Tonight”
cha ching!
Low lifes will say anything for money.
I’m thinking that if Trump had not been the target of over-the-top intense media attacks, traitors in his own party, RINO criminals on the take, and an entire crooked establishment, including alphabet agencies, he may have been burdened with a lot less “baggage”.
If “baggage” means defending yourself from an hysterical onslaught, then ok.
The GOP needs his ballsack
It’s okay for Trump to be potus again, but the second edition can’t operate at all like the first. Trump was too trusting.
Spot on! Bring back the baggage!
And the president accomplished all of this and more, while being battered non-stop like a punching bag. Imagine what he could have done had he been treated like a president. OTOH, he smoked out all of the scum that needed to be skimmed off, so that’s a great achievement as well. My admiration for the man never ceases. It is only equaled by my disdain for those who attacked him, especially his so-called friends.
“I’ll take PRESIDENT TRUMP BAGGAGE:
Good economy
Energy independence
Border security
No wars
No North Korean rockets
Fewer,democrats
Great stock market
Higher 401Ks
Low interest rates
Low gas and diesel pricing
AND MORE !!
Great baggage !!
MAGA”
ME TOO!
And Mulvaney’s baggage? Being a two bit back stabber...
RE: GOP Doesn’t Need His ‘Baggage’
The problem with talking about “Baggage’ is this — the left will always INVENT baggages ( mostly fake ). Does Mulvaney think that nominating someone else will soon make baggages disappear?
Look at the “Baggage” (AKA Lies ) they made up against honorable men like Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh.
Mulvaney seems to think that if someone else were the president ( e.g. Mitt Romney ) Washington DC will suddenly become more civil. What a crock. First, Bush Jr. was Hitler, then Trump is Hitler. Do you think Romney or McCain won’t be equated to Hitler too had they won? That’s the left’s playbook.
Better to nominate someone like Trump who won’t take these lies lying down and fight back.
The Jan 6 committee is nonsense.
But Trump does have some real baggage, and his abrasive personality is part of it; there are many Americans who like Trump’s policies but hate him personally and won’t vote for him; I think they are foolish, but there are millions of them.
Being the proud and unrepentant father of the clot shots is baggage.
That rape/defamation case that will go to trial in NY next February is baggage.
The election law allegation in Georgia is baggage that may or may not bite him. Yes, the election was stolen, but if Trump has to defend himself before a jury it won’t help.
So while I think the Jan 6 committee is a bad joke, on the whole I agree with Mulvaney’s conclusion.
So my proposal is let’s elect Ron Desantis President in 2024 and get working on an appropriate memorial for Donald Trump. Maybe rename Mt. Rushmore Mt. Trump?
I’d love to see Trump as Prez again. But he has to pick better staff. He should tell McConnell to shove his list of acceptable candidates.
People talk about "the swamp", but they often get it wrong. The swamp has nothing to do with Congress. The Swamp is the massively out of control, self-perpetuating bureaucracy in the executive branch that has acquired Congress-like legislative authority.
Those people cannot be voted out of office as can members of Congress. The only way to get rid of them is to appoint the right people to positions in the Cabinet and to other important positions within the government. Once appointed, those people that can then begin clearing out members of the swamp so that the policies for which the people elected the President can actually be enacted.
Truth is, Trump was pretty terrible at his appointments in the Executive Branch. I'm not sure how anyone can fairly dispute that given that Trump himself turned on most of the people he appointed. And it is not like there is any evidence that Trump learned from this. The people he appointed later in his administration after he had been in office for a couple years turned out to be just as bad as the ones he appointed at the beginning.
Bottom line is I see no objective, rational basis to believe that Trump's appointments in a second Administration would be any better than those in his first administration. All of his good intentions and ideas won't matter if they cannot be implemented because of resistance within the bureaucracy. That is just reality.
The response to this is usually pure wishful thinking: that Trump will magically appoint the right people this time, even though there was no improvement in his appointments during the course of his Administration.
So, sorry. Trump had his opportunity to reform the bureaucracy and completely and utterly failed. That's why I prefer someone different this go around who may do a better job at selecting subordinates, and give a badly needed draining to that swamp.
Exactly.
You guys just don't get that argument, and never have.
The point is not that we're offended. The point is that swing voters get offended, and their votes count the same as yours regardless of whether they are "easily offended sissies". If you don't care what they think, and don't care how they vote, then that's the problem.
Bush wanted to be liked by the establishment so he said screw Trump. Now Bush is popular in the Beltway.
