Mulvaney: I Hope Trump Doesn’t Run — GOP Doesn’t Need His ‘Baggage’
Breitbart ^ | 19 Jul 2022 | PAM KEY

Posted on 07/20/2022 7:48:10 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

Former Trump acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Tuesday on “CNN Tonight” that he hoped former President Donald Trump doesn’t run for president in 2024.

Anchor Laura Coates asked, “If he were to run for re-election yet again, we don’t know if he intends to do that. If he is the RNC nominee, do you intend to vote for him?”

Mulvaney said, “I am one of those Republicans who hopes the former President Trump doesn’t run. In all fairness, we don’t need him anymore. He changed our party. We have a lot of folks, a new generation of folks, Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, go down the list of folks who could give us the same that Donald Trump gave without the baggage. As a Republican, I am thinking if the election were on today and Joe Biden was the nominee for the Democrats or Kamala Harris or Gavin Newsom, there is probably only one mainstream Republican who could lose, and that’s Donald Trump. Knowing what I know, I would be hard pressed to support Donald Trump again.”

He added, “I think we moved beyond Donald Trump clearing the field. I think that is one thing that the January 6 committee has accomplished.”

He concluded, “To the extent they wanted to wound him politically, I think that happened. There has been polling data recently, for the first time, says that a majority of Republican primary voters would prefer somebody other than Donald Trump. That’s a big change over the course ever the last six or eight weeks.”

Of course all these ‘concern’ trolls just pointing out how good DeSantis is and would be good for conservatives are just trying to dispirit, demoralize, distract and detour Trump’s base from the true goal - rectify a STOLEN ELECTION and END THE SWAMP!

The thing is...Trump appointed this guy to two important places in his Administration. So either this guy is right, or Trump is pretty crappy at picking subordinates. That latter thing concerns me more than “mean tweets.”

Well, you are a NeverTrumper who is constantly distorting Trump's record, so why would I care what you have to say?

Trump had him running numbers. That was his role. He was fine in that role, it’s not very political. He was then chief of staff. In hindsight not a great pick for that role. That being said, he was fired.

The only stupid thing he did was bash McCain a month before election when he was dead two years. Otherwise he was on point.

I agree with Mulvaney that President Trump does come with baggage and could lose. Lots of people hate Trump and would vote against him even though he is the man to right this sinking ship. However I fully support A second Trump term for another reason. I think Trump has learned some lessons from his first four years and I believe he would be able to fight a smarter, more decisive war against the swamp with the benefit of hindsight.

But, do any of you really believe, that the Democrats and the media wouldn’t go after DeSantis full force, if DeSantis is the nominee in 2024?

And I don't think he wants that right now. Young kids. Wife just had cancer. If I were him, I'd kick it in FL for another term.

Mulvaney talks “baggage”! The only baggage Trump has is disloyal assholes he picked for his administration, such as Mulvaney, Pence etc.

This guy, (along with a lot of others) seems to have forgotten the level of hatred the left had for George W Bush. He was referred to as "worse than Hitler", Bushitler, a chimpanzee, etc. A late night talk show host ran a "joke" that showed a picture of Bush with the caption "snipers wanted". All this vitriol for an open-borders RINO like Bush.

Sure the "mean tweets" were some of the Trump baggage, but the main reason the left (and much of the GOP) hated Trump was that he was for MAGA and refused to be the whipping boy of the left that guys like Bush and Romney are. Remember that Trump was a popular media figure before running for POTUS and his TV show The Apprentice ran for like, 12 years. Once he became president, the left considered him the worst person in history. Any decent candidate who is for MAGA will face the same treatement Trump did.

I’ll take president Trump’s “bagage” over Biden’s bagage any day.

Baggage = forcing the GOPe to do things they don’t want to do.

We have a lot of folks, a new generation of folks, Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, go down the list of folks who could give us the same that Donald Trump gave without the baggage.

They all have much worse “baggage” than Trump ever had — namely, they’re career political hacks who have been groomed to sell out Americans once they get inside the Beltway.

Both the GOPe and the Democrats want President Trump out of the way so they can rig elections.

The electorate needs "None of the Above" added to every ballot in order to keep these two corrupt parties from stealing elections and the Republic.

Yep! I hope that TRUMP runs in 2024. And this time he will know the Deep State a lot better, and I hope that he is pissed off at all the Brutuses hidden in the weeds. I hope that his first day in office as #47 will consist of firing Chris Wray and sweeping all the trash out of the FBI.

So Mulvaney, while you say Trump has “baggage”, know that what’s inside that baggage is all the dirty deeds done to him by the career politicians of both parties who conspired to rob the electorate of their President TWICE. Not only were we robbed of his second term, we were robbed of his ability to carry out everything we elected him for in the first term.
