Book: Paul Ryan ‘found himself sobbing’ during Jan. 6 attack

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) said he was “sobbing” as he watched the Jan 6, 2021 attack at the Capitol happen, according to a new book.

In Atlantic journalist’s Mark Leibovich’s new book, “Thank You For Your Servitude,” Ryan said he felt “disturbed” about what was taking place in a building in which he spend most of his political life, according to CNN.

Ryan, who was Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-Utah) running mate in the 2012 presidential election, retired from his position as House Speaker in January 2019. He stepped into the role following former House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) retirement four years prior.

“I spent my whole adult life in that building,” Ryan told Leibovich in the book. “And I saw my friends, a lot of cops, some of my old security detail – I’m still friends with a bunch of those guys. It really disturbed me, foundationally.”

Ryan also told Leibovich that “something snapped in him” as he watched the insurrection.

“Ryan figured the president would bitch and moan and maybe make a big show of ‘fighting’ for his supporters for a while,” Leibovich wrote in his book. “Everyone could feel good and victimized. But eventually Trump would just leave; hopefully, he would know to do this on his own. And everyone could then just get on with their lives.”

It does happen..... rarely. Here’s a historical example:

Saul of Tarsus was a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin, born in the city of Tarsus (in modern-day Turkey), but raised in Jerusalem, Judea (Philippians 3:5-6, Acts 22:3). Tarsus was a free city in the Roman province of Cilicia, and Saul’s parents had become citizens of Rome. Thus, by birth, Saul also had Roman citizenship (Acts 22:28).

So Saul was in with the Romans and the upper echelon Jews: had everything going for him. And because he was a big butt Roman, he got a gig to look down on the Jesus freak Jew “Insurrectionists” and get tough with them. That won him some points with the in-crowd.

Needless to say, Saul was feared by those Jews making up the MIGA movement (Make Israel Great Again) and received kudos and high fives from the boys in the Sanhedrin. He was promoted to Pharisee and I’ll just betcha he could put on a sob act to show the hurt that these Jesus rioters caused when they stuck their tongues out at him and the deep state gang wiggling about the Temple.

Then it happened. Saul got struck by a lightning bolt and was imbued with clarity and courage to help and console those that loved Jesus. But that meant having his Jerusalem country club membership torn up and banished to minister his heresy “out there” in the boonies where Greeks meandered about. So as Saul was “out there”, his Jewish name Saul was called by the Greek name Paul. Kinda like Roberto in Madrid is called Robert in London.

Paul because poorer than dirt but spiritually richer than any other Jew living at the time.

Nope, Ryan ain’t got a Paul in him. If I was him, I’d be looking for a hideaway in Baja. Because history turns in an image of massive gallows going up eventually in response to what happened in November 2020. Seriously, it may seem improbable now, but wars are years in the making and years in the waging. What the power addicts pulled off in 2020 was way over the line by any comparison. It’s not going away.

So Rhino Ryan can either bolt and hide or pray to be knocked to the ground where he gets up to commune with the unwashed MAGA hicks ..... that ain’t gonna happen.
