Do Republicans Even Know What Democrats Did to Them With This Anti-Gun Bill?
Townhall ^ | 23 june 2022 | Matt Vespa

Well, it happened. The Republican Party decided to play nice, try to get some good press with a media establishment that hates them, and join the legions of the righteous and blessed by hashing out a gun control bill during a midterm election cycle. Is everyone up there hitting the crack pipe? What are we doing? What the hell is this? We have category five hurricane gusts to our backs heading into November—and the GOP decided to do what it does best: find a new way to blow it.

The economy is primed to enter a recession as the second-quarter report is bound to show another period of economic contraction. The supply chain crisis is still ongoing. The pain at the gas pump lingers. Inflation is torching the wallets of working Americans. American mothers still can’t find baby formula. The southern border remains a mess. There is not a single crisis that's being managed in any meaningful way. Biden’s crew has done nothing. They can’t even get a WNBA star out of Russia who’s supposedly being unlawfully detained. Brittney Griner has been there since February. They can’t even set up a call between Griner and her wife; no one was at the US Embassy's front desk to connect the call. The incompetence is pervasive—and the GOP is allowing the Democrats to exploit a crease to depress conservative turnout.

That’s the game here. Democrats know they’re going to lose. They have a little old dementia-ridden man as a party leader. The economy is a dumpster fire. And they’re fighting history. The president’s party usually loses control of at least one chamber of Congress. The only exception to that trend was the 2002 midterms; Bush gained seats in the House and Senate

Yesterday Daniel Horowits detailed the perfidy to a T. Yes they know— and it’s not that they don’t care— they want it to be so.

Are they talking about the gun control bill that SCOTUS made explicitly unconstitutional today

Of course they will.

Not “the Republicans”

This is Mitch McConnell and some DNC spies trying to enact the Great Reset and take our guns.

Why are we not protesting in front of their homes for this?

It is extraordinarily frustrating to read all these articles on the bill that fail to discuss the bill with any degree of specificity. It’s all broad brush / broad strokes, but that’s not how laws are written and enforced. The exact language of a bill is critical, and I don’t see anybody analyzing what that actual text says.

But it will take years for this to get back to the SC.

I'm just surprised after 2020 that there are people who still ACTUALLY think there are really two major political parties in America right now.

They aren't blowing it if it is done intentionally. The GOP has no desire to take back Congress - their voters do, but the party doesn't.

I agree.

I'm surprised, after 2020, that there are people who still believe there are two major political parties in America.

They don’t care because they are democrats in republican clothing.

The RINO’s are completely on board with this.

That would take a while because it references other bills. There’s a whole lot of add this to that, strike this and replace with that. You’d have to have the text of all existing bills that it revises and take notes to figure it out. Then of course they’re all written in legalese.

The most infuriating part is that it gives 100,000,000 to the FBI. How can repubs give 100 mil to the FBI who are acting as the dems personal enforcers against conservatives?

It’s very disappointing to see that Republicans are in on the intentional destruction of this country.

How many times do we have to see unequal treatment under the law before establishment Republicans say “hey, did you ever notice how leftists get away with violence with little or no prison time but our supporters always get the book thrown at them”?

At one point a year or so ago Dan Bongino said that the supposed “screw-ups” of the Biden administration could not be chalked up to incompetence, it had to be intentional.

Now the Republicans are in on it. They want to strip you of Second Amendment rights. They want to deny you due process. They want to lose. There is no other logical explanation.

"The exact language of a bill is critical, and I don’t see anybody analyzing what that actual text says."

Does it matter what the text says? The details of laws are fleshed out by bureaucrats. Intent of laws are determined by the courts. We are no longer a nation of written laws, but of men and their regulations.

I understand that it would be impossible to summarize the entire bill in a single article. But this specific article is entitled "Do Republicans Even Know What Democrats Did to Them With This Anti-Gun Bill?.. Given that title, I hardly think it's unreasonable to expect the author to actually give us some detail so we do know what Democrats did to us with this bill.

The only thing about which he provided specifics was about additional criminal records for those under 21. The bill apparently now permits juvenile records to be reviewed for background check. If I remember correctly, a good many folks on here have pointed out how stupid it is that someone who commits a felony at the age of 16 or 17 doesn't have that information entered into the database. So I personally don't have an issue with that at all.

The most infuriating part is that it gives 100,000,000 to the FBI. How can repubs give 100 mil to the FBI who are acting as the dems personal enforcers against conservatives?

As far as I could tell, that money goes exclusively to update and modernize the background check system. That's interesting, because the author of this particular article also says:

Again, NICS is only good as the information it’s given. We’ve seen an appalling breakdown in this system because authorities did not follow proper procedures in updating the database with offenses that would have prevented recent mass shooters from purchasing firearms.

In other words, the background check system that is authorized under current law has not been utilized correctly. In that case, I really don't have a problem with putting more money into the one part of the system that most of us seem to agree needs to be more efficient.

You mean the same ones under trumps prez who rubber stamped mail in ballots, restricted citizen travel, masked, shut down and fast tracked a vax. Who first Kay’s mail in ballots then gripes about a stolen election. It’s like saying I don’t want get robbed, then handing a thief a thousand dollars then calling it robbery.

"How can repubs give 100 mil to the FBI who are acting as the dems personal enforcers against conservatives?"

When you have reports of Linsey Graham urging Capital police to shoot January 6 protesters
Relative silence on those held for 1.5 years without trial
Cornyn's dismissal of being booed
McConnell and McCain's fingerprints on the IRS hounding of Tea Party organizations
Blatant efforts to torpedo grassroots movements to elect people who might actually represent their constituents
Remaining largely silent or even complicit with a facilitated invasion of the country mainly across our southern border
Voting to send money to a foreign country in which there is no national interest, which is also known as a money laundering clearing house for DC, while doing nothing to help those suffering domestically

There's more, but why not throw more money to the enforcers of the syndicate that has done all the above?

And why be surprised when that syndicate wants to disarm the people they are fleecing?
