On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher argued that when people try to get off fossil fuels before there is a replacement ready, “they wind up going back to even worse fossil fuels.” And that this has happened in the United States and President Joe Biden going to Saudi Arabia “hat in hand, begging them for oil” after vowing to reduce oil drilling is an example of that.
After citing Biden’s pledge to end drilling on federal lands, Maher stated, “Let’s just talk about why these things really happen, it’s because people think that they can — look, I wish we were all off fossil fuels forever. But the truth is that when people get off fossil fuels before they have a replacement, they wind up going back to even worse fossil fuels. Germany said, we don’t want nuclear power anymore, which is the cleanest, and what did they have to go back to? Coal. And basically, the same thing happened here. We said, Saudi Arabia, go f*ck yourself, you killed a journalist and now, Biden is going over there, hat in hand, begging them for oil. Because people want their gas.”

I’m not willing to grant Maher that. He’s just smart enough to see which way the wind is blowing.
Maybe byte-me can trade Pete B for 100 bbl of oil, then “heels-up” for a 2nd shipment, then Chuckey S for a 3rd, then Nazie P for a 4th.....etc

You can drill here and put Americans to work, and fund our tax base, or you can fund Saudi royals and put Pakistanis to work. It’s a choice.
I wouldn’t give the Biden administration that much credit. I am sure that Putin told Biden exactly what price he wanted a barrel of oil to hit, in order to fund the little soirée he had planned.

Biden is a figurehead and a mouthpiece; that's all. So is Obama.
All this is part of the plan. Scaring the American People with boogeymen like "global warming," endless "pandemics," "out of control guns," "Trump is Hitler," the truth about 2020 election fraud is "The Big Lie," is all part of the strategy.
Many Americans are aware of their evil intentions. Certainly Donald Trump is.
Many are seriously hoodwinked.
The fate of America--the fate of our children--hinges on whether or not enough people awaken to the truth in time to save the USA and our future generations.
Do everything you can to enlighten them! Survival is at stake.
I have always liked Bill Maher, even though I disagree with most of what he says. There is no question that Maher is a committed liberal, though sometimes libertarian leaning. But he is a rational liberal, unlike the rabidly partisan extremist liberals now running the media and the democrat party. You could disagree or even have an intelligent argument with Maher. If you disagree with most liberals they will respond by calling you a racist, sexist, homophobe who wants White Supremests to shoot school children.
I don’t much care what Maher‘s motivation is. Maybe he has finally seen the light. Or maybe he’s just making a cynical and temporary course correction.
It doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’s reaching an audience that gets all its news from MSNBC. Maher is making those folks think. He’s moving the ball in the right direction, and I hope he keeps it up.
You supported him Bill.
