Sepsis is no joke.
You go into septic shock. have tremours and then your heart stops.
Treatment is with fast acting antibiotic and in serious cases , blood transfusion. The infected areas of flesh, if surface lesion can be excoriated.
But sepsis also can happen internally through Urinary Tract infection and bowel infection. Sorting out when you have sepsos from sores and also a parallel internal infection source simultaneously can be deadly. Many doctors assume only one source when there can be 2 or even 3.
Thats why Iam worried about Jim and his care.

Thank you Amy. Haven’t been able to read through the whole thread, but I’m a former PhD medical researcher interested in pathogenic causal theories.
As we grow older, we naturally lose strength in our immune system. There are immune boosters, but there exists exciting immunotherapy treatments that can help tremendously.

In the meantime, we are all praying for the Great American that his father is to all of us.

Jim has two sons, John and Chris. He has been wheelchair bound for several years. Pressure sores (bed sores) are caused by sitting or lying in one position for too long.
When Chris was able to visit his Dad yesterday, he told him that Freepers were offering lots of love and support on FR.
Chris also notified the hospital that there had been an unauthorized charge on one of Jim’s CC’s. Chris locked that card.
Sounds like Jim’s sons are looking out for his best interests.

I'm a little familiar with pressure sores. I don't have anything like Jim's, but I have had a pressure sore on the cartilage of my right ear for the past two years. It's from sleeping on my right side too often. It will heal, then fester again. A dermatologist froze it three times, but it has never totally gone away. I cover it every night to protect it, but it is still painful, and interrupts my sleep. If I'm having pain from a small sore on my ear that keeps me from getting comfortable, and interferes with my sleep, I can only imagine what Jim is going through with the sores on his body. It has to be horrendous. May the Lord heal Jim quickly and completely, as soon as possible.

Double check Jim’s “Priority” of care. There are 10 levels at the VA. Ten being everything is covered down to One. Ck for “Service connected” also.
I’m a Priority 8. Most all of my expenses are paid for. No dental for example.
Prayers up to the Lord for Jim’s healing and comfort for the Robinson family. Amen.

Isn’t there something you could put in the wheelchair that would relieve that? Something with shifting air pressures? Surely there is some brilliant Freeper who could invent something so this never happens again.

The last one, mostly; this one isn't going so hot. But we will be there for him and all Freepers as long as we live and breath and think, whether the 'net is high jacked or not!
