I agree 100%. Philosophers and Theologians could point at a lot of things in the Post Modern world that have lead us to this point.
It seems unworldly, though, a war between Good and Evil that we can neither postpone nor avoid.
My point was to correct a common, erroneous belief inflicted on self-defense defendants in courts. We shouldn’t always expect people trained as combat soldiers, people who’ve endured years of extreme pain or everyone else to cry drama tears on the stand. Only the facts...
Granted, the lives of those forced to kill in self-defense or defense duty are probably more sad but not always apparent to others. I knew one veteran who’d fought with infantry in Vietnam, who talked much about the cruelties that he’d seen. Maybe it was his way of trying to cope with it. But he was the best kind of man anyone could trust to *not* be impulsive or to hurt any innocent person.
Some people who have not been personally acquainted with violence are more likely to be fascinated with it and more likely to act impulsively.
Another example... Different people also mourn differently after losing a loved one. Some cry. Some don’t.
And boxers cause brain damage, for example, but at least most of them don’t cry about it. And most of them by far are some of the most peaceful and generous people we could meet—not the drama monsters seen hamming it up on TV before fights for moronic viewers. ...very few exceptions, who only started acting like criminals after getting involved with drug dealers or gangsters.
It depends on why someone is being violent. People who want to hurt innocent people or conquer the countries of others without good reason should be stopped, and violence is sometimes necessary for stopping them.
