The Biden administration has announced it is preparing to fly hundreds of pallets of baby formula from Europe to the United States in an effort to mitigate the ongoing shortage of the infant necessity.
The White House said in a statement Thursday it has identified some 1.5 million eight-ounce bottles of Nestle S.A. formula to transport from Zurich, Switzerland, to Plainfield, Ind., from where it will be distributed.
The flights will be conducted under Operation Fly Formula, which President Joe Biden announced Wednesday along with his invocation of the Defense Production Act directing ingredient suppliers to direct resources to formula makers before filling other orders.
The shipment consists of 246 pallets of the three hyperallogenic formulas of Alfamino Infant, Alfamino Junior and Gerber Good Start, which the White House prioritized as they serve a critical medical purpose and are in short supply, it said.

That one plant in Sturgis supplies 40% of the nation’s formula. Stupid.
Now they’re dealing with a fedgov agency to try and re-open. Every back and forth communication likely takes weeks due to the snail’s pace of gubmint red tape. Bureaucrats don’t know how to prioritize and get things done quickly.
None of the formula tested had the bug that made babies sick. FDA did find the bug in a non-production line part of the plant but it was a different strain of said bug. So the FDA shut them down. One thing they’re having to do is replace some floor in that non-production line part of the plant with a non-porous material.

I know we have some really big aircraft, C-5s and C-17s, but I’m having a hard time imagining a payload on one of those being more than a drop in the bucket as far as baby formula for the entire country.

I remember reading that Senators are the worst prepared, worst qualified people to be POTUS maybe 40 years ago. They hide among the 100 and have NO leadership skills. It’s been proven time and again. Corporate CEOs and state governors have the executive leadership experience and skills. I especially like non-politician corporate CEOs in the role — unless they come from the ranks of ultra-woke companies these days.

To think that barely two years ago store shelves were well stocked with baby formula, we were a net energy exporter for the first time in decades and gasoline was $2 a gallon. Now we are begging Switzerland for baby formula pleading with Arab potentates and rogue states like Venezuela and Iran for their oil and gasoline has more than doubled in price. Way to go Brandon.
But if I order a case of formula on my own from Europe I risk having customs or the FDA destroy it if they catch me. “Free Trade” for thee but not for me.
