With two weeks to go before the hotly contested Pennsylvania Republican Primary, a new poll shows that race is now a statistical 3-way tie between Dr. Mehmet Oz, Kathy Barnette, and Dave McCormick.

According to the new Trafalgar Group poll, Trump endorsed Oz was at 24.5 percent, Barnette was at 23.2 percent and McCormick was at 21.6 percent in the race to be the nominee for the seat of retiring GOP Senator Pat Toomey.
The survey was conducted between May 6 and May 8. The poll consisted of 1080 likely 2022 GOP primary voters, had a response rate of 1.44 percent and a margin of error of 2.99 percent.
Pundits theorized that Barnette is surging due to her recent debate performance and Oz was falling due to his heavy negatives with Republican voters. During the debate last Wednesday, Barnette spoke about her mother, who was only 11-years-old when she was raped by a man 10 years her senior. Barnette was the result of that rape, and her gratitude to her mother for carrying her and giving her life was clear.
"Whether this was a leak or whether this was a tactical operation we will soon figure out," she said in response to a question about the recent, unprecedented leak of a draft majority opinion from the Supreme Court that could overturn Roe v. Wade.
"One thing is clear, I am so very grateful that our nation is now having a very important conversation, and that is the most important conversation, that is about life. I am the byproduct of a rape," she said.
"My mother was 11-years-old when I was conceived. My father was 21. I was not just a lump of cells. As you can see, I'm still not just a lump of cells. My life has value. And that is one of the reasons why it was so very disturbing when I saw Mehmet Oz running for this particular race." Barnette said she had seen Oz, on "numerous occasions," including on podcast The Breakfast Club, where in 2019 he said that six weeks into a woman's pregnancy, a baby's heart is just "a cell" with "little electrical changes." Oz is a surgeon who has performed operations on infants.

"And the other thing is this whole thing about heart beating," Oz said at the time. "I mean, they're electrical changes at six weeks, but the heart's not beating … If you were to say, starting when we can hear the heart, like when the heart's really doing something, that'd be different. That's not six weeks, though."
Barnette asked Oz if he had changed his position on that. Oz did not say whether he had or had not changed his view but said, "One of the toughest endorsements you could ever get is from your mother-in-law. My mother-in-law is an ordained minister. She wrote a lot of the pro-life literature in Montgomery County where we live, and she certainly understands that I'm pro-life."
"As a heart surgeon I've operated on small children few days old and witnessed the majesty of their hearts pounding blood even though it's ill because I'm operating not to those bodies. I would never think of harming that child or even nine months earlier because life starts at conception," Oz said.

In her closing statements, Barnette said "I am you Pennsylvania and like you I believe this is the greatest country that has ever existed, but like you, I believe our country is in trouble. I believe that America that allowed me to claw my way out of dire poverty is about to come to a close."
"This time you do not have to hold your nose to vote for the lesser of two evils. I am in a statistical tie for first place, so voting for me is not throwing your vote away."

"Listen, go to my Facebook page by Kathy Barnett for Senate and you will see exactly what I'm doing today that I will amp up tomorrow after this race. You will see me in rooms full of black people changing their voter registration from Democrat to Republican, you will see me downtown and Chinatown. They are mine. You will see people ushering me in front of a roomful of Amish people with them introducing me as someone with their values."
"Not only do I have a grasp on our own base, but I can go into every nook and cranny and take the votes that we need in order to really be better than in the general election. So, let's go do this." Barnette received a massive round of applause after the remarks.
"Trust us. And bring your children."
“Barnett seems like a great candidate too- but Rove supported.”
Are you sure? I though he was backing McCormick.
Why is Trump endorsing Amnesty Senators?
Amnesty is the opposite of MAGA/America First.
Good for you.
We will never Make America Great Again by electing or re-electing Assistant Democrats
Burgess Owens of Utah broke that mold but, then, he has a fairly conservative constituency not comparable to either Pennsylvania or Michigan.
What makes you think they will abandon him and choose one if the other two?
Couldn’t it just stay a three way race?
NO YOU’RE RIDICULOUS BECAUSE IM TYPING ALL IN CAPS.
My mistake- I thought Rove picked her.
Like I said - she seems like a great candidate too- I hope if those two are in the lead they don’t split the GOP vote and get the Dem elected.
Which may be what this fishwrap is trying to accomplish.
Oh yeah - my mistake
Oz is a charlatan.
“His dalliance with gun control disqualifies him. His kiddie trans toleration disqualifies him. His abortion openness disqualifies him. His CRT tolerance disqualifies him.
He’s disqualified. Period. Next!”
MTG and Bobert are representatives, not senators. Kathy ran for representative in 2020 and lost.
Nice typo. I think you accidentally types the wrong letter. If you substitute an “s” for an “r” it sums things up nicely—I’ve never heard of Potomac Fecer, but changing one letter explains everything about the disease emanating from that cesspool.
Hatch served 42 years.
I was against Smith in the primary. While Pubs in general are susceptible to what goes down in Washington, he both seemed the type to go native quickly of himself, and I have a theory that LDS types are particularly likely to go native when push comes to shove.
Things have become much worse since Laxalt was a close ally of Reagan, and people succumb more quickly. I have since seen politicians succumb more quickly—the recently deposed leader of the Conservative Party in Canada may have set a record when he did so in his acceptance speech after winning the position—but I am from the West and expect that even novice politicians will have a little staying power if they are to be worth electing.
I believe that I voted for him once, which puts him in a category with two Bushes that neither Romney nor McCain belong to. (I did write in Palin).
If everyone on FB sends Kathy Barnette some coin she will do fine.
Talk is cheap - or as once said ‘money talks, and BS walks’
McCormick buds have 35million they are spending for him.
See ‘honorpennsylvaniainc’
You clearly are not in PA or remotely familiar with this race.
OZ ans McCormick have both spent tens of millions each, for the last 4 or 5 months and the sum total support for both of them combined is about 40%.. or just about the total of where the undecideds are in this point (around 40%) a week before Election Day.
Barnette has had no press or budget to speak of and handily was the winner of both the debates, at least in terms of affecting the race… both of which only happened in the last few weeks, before that most voters had never seen her… so yea her surging from 12 points to 20 points or wherever it is is a very big deal on this race.
Reality is OZ and MCCormick are both lousy candidates and Fetterman will likely eat their lunches.. neither have any organic support in the state and offer no compelling argument or story going into the general.
GOP has a far better shot this fall with her than Oz or MCCormick… he’ll she absolutely bitch slapped OZ who is without question the worst candidate ever.
Oz and MCCormick are at best generic GOP candidates, if either of them are the candidate and win then a ham sandwich with an R beside their name would have won.
Given how Kathy disnantled Oz in the debates I will take my chances with her than either one the others. She’s literally Put herself in the top tier purely on 2 debate performances… on par with 2 folks who have spent 10s on millions over 4 months.
She’s by far the strongest GOp candidate with the most compelling narrative..
We will see how it goes.. hopefully she’ll pull out the upset and we’ll see where things are in the fall.
AC ; see post #113 please
Trump pulled a major boner on this one.
Barnett is a very special woman and candidate. Should have been a no-brainer for Trump.
Utah has been very odd lately — with the likes of Romney and Cox.
Potomac Fever.
I suspected as much, but the alternative is funnier and more apt. What a difference a letter can make.
That reminds me of an English joke where W.C. is used as an abbreviation for Wayside Chapel.
Hey LS.
If they go anywhere, vote is Tuesday... and the folks who had been the front runners, both Oz and McCormick despite spending 10s of millions each for the last 4-5 months still are in the 20s.
OZ actually is down from February where he was at 27... Hasn’t stumbled, but hasn’t sold it.. he’s a lousy candidate IMHO and McCormick isn’t much better.
There are still 20% or so undecided in this poll, and Oz really hasn’t moved, got a few points after Trump endorsed him, but that’s it... The winner from the debates, without question in terms of affecting the race has been Kathy... depending on the polls, undecideds were nearly 40% just a few weeks ago...
Oz and McCormick are both duds. Only exposure Kathy has gotten were these debate performances and she’s made the most of them for sure, neither McCormick nor Oz moved their needles much after the debates.
Downside is Kathy really doesn’t have the cash to push her advantage, if she does wind up the nominee, this will be, without question a coup de tat by the electorate who pretty much will have rejected the GOPe guys.
My take on this race is, if Oz or McCormick are the nominee, don’t be surprised to see Fetterman win the seat.. even with the red wave coming.. I just don’t see either of them offering a compelling case to voters here, and the usual pro forma attack lines won’t stick to Fetterman. The man is a beast, and has more street cred, for lack of a better term, that any politician to run for a statewide office in this state.. Neither of these guys (Oz or McCormick) will be able to get beyond a generic R support at best in the fall.
So if the D brand is so bad that any R would win, they might take it, but if the race is measured in any way by the candidates, Fetterman will wipe the floor with either of them.
I hope Kathy pulls off the upset, will know soon enough. She’s definitely not someone who will be swallowed in Fetterman’s shadow... of course the establishment GOP will almost certainly abandon her if she wins, so it will have to be the people who actually give her a chance... I think given the current climate, that may indeed happen.
