Ever since Donald Trump sulked out of the White House, the question has never been whether he would do whatever he could to get back in, the question has always been whether he could do it. At first it looked like Trump could easily secure the Republican nomination but could not unseat President Biden.
Slowly but steadily this script is flipping.
Increasingly Trump is looking stronger against a flailing Biden, while eroding as the preferred candidate for Republicans. The prospect of the GOP turning to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is very real, if DeSantis plays his cards right and Trump continues to play his cards wrong. And a Ron DeSantis-Tim Scott ticket could be a combination Trump can’t beat.

The Constitution specifies natural born citizen, but that is no longer operative after the Kenyan from Indonesia and the Indo-Jamaican VP.
I did see that thread on FR about Musk finding a long lost Hawaiian birth cert....
No Republican can win a majority or a plurality of the popular vote.
I cringe when I think about voting for a 78 year old man for President, but there is no Republican alternative.
If DeSantis is the nominee, he will be decisively beaten, by any Democrat.
If the Satanists at The Hill are this afraid of Trump, he’s my guy.
The first paragraph is laughably delusional. I got no further.
DeSantis is not going to run against Trump. So you NeverTrumpers can go ahead and drop this little fantasy.
Ron DeSantis is not going to go head-to-head with Donald Trump. Not now, not ever. He may succeed Trump, but as of now, nobody trumps Trump.
Trumpism without Donald Trump is a sort of oxymoron, one cannot exist without the other. A similar kind of agenda may come into existence, but it would no longer be Trumpism.
Tim Scott, however, has good potential as VP with a retread Trump candidacy in 2024.
The Hill has had but one purpose for the past five years.
How any publisher of “news” can devote themselves to the destruction of the career of a single politician then expect to be taken seriously in any regard is a wonder.
Yikes - my bad.
The way the invasion of the USA is going we will be North Mexico and it won’t really matter.
And Bush League Republicans like Flimsey Grahamnesty and Tim Scott are culpable for their role in that.
Barf factor aside, Musk is a naturalized citizen and not eligible.
IF you want PROOF that this bald-headed nattering nabob of negativism Naughton never played once outside of Pennsyltucky after he crashed and burned with Dole '96, here's. your. sign.
Offers no evidence to back up this statement, furthermore he later he has to admit Trump has 20 points on DeSantis in the most friendly poll to DeSantis.
Trump is beating Biden and destroying Harris, in Democrat polling.
Tim Scott would be worse than Mike Pence.
How about a non-Bush League Republican?
DeSantis/Abbott
DeSantis/Greene
Chasing demographic tic marks to jist eek it out and get to 271 electoral votes can be the dem thing. Trump was awful for that measure, he missed nearly all the demographic hits for Republicans. Old, white, male, thoroughly documented history of lawsuits, womanizing, and failed marriages, not particularly religious, and was a pro-choice Democrat for most of his adult life. Trump was a fighter and he saw what issues energized the voters. That won't ever show up on a racial scorecard, but that's what will win elections. White guy, black woman, gay, straight, vegetarian, atheist, it's all about delivering results. Doing, not being.
You missed the FR thread about Musk finding a lost Hawaiian birth cert.
I’ve been corrected on this before.
Many people have said that DeSantis has said he won’t run if Trump runs.
But DeSantis himself has never said so on the record.
Here’s my point, I was no fan of Mike Pence, because the one thing I remember about him as Governor of Indiana was the Gay bathroom bill, when the protests broke out, he foiled like a lawn chair.
But all Trump voters overlooked that and voted for Trump.
I would hate Tim Scott being a VP for Trump or DeSantis, but would hate more to see Gavin Newsome or Kamala Harris as POTUS.
I would be surprised if DeSantis runs against Trump but if so I have no problem with either Trump or DeSantis.
