"I had a patient I was doing a blood draw on see my pronoun pin and loudly laugh to the staff 'She/Her?... I missed his vein so he had to get stuck twice."
A fourth-year medical student at Wake Forest boasted on social media Tuesday about apparently sticking a patient unnecessarily with a needle — all because he mocked her "pronoun pin." K. Del, or Kychelle Del Rosario, a fourth year medical student at Wake Forest School of Medicine, posted to Twitter that a patient was so disrespecting of her pronouns that she intentionally injured the patient during a medical procedure. Del Rosario has since deleted her account.
"I had a patient I was doing a blood draw on see my pronoun pin and loudly laugh to the staff 'She/Her? Well of course it is! What other pronouns even are there? It?' I missed his vein so he had to get stuck twice," Del Rosario said in a now deleted tweet.

Should this student lose her entire medical career merely because she gave in to irritation just once? Why, yes. Yes, she should. She should also face criminal charges and a huge civil suit.
Besides, I’ll bet it isn’t the first time she’s done something like this.
Never mind Wake Forest falling back on the generic legal dept generated lameassed meaningless apology, HAVE THE AUTHORITIES BEEN NOTIFIED? Sounds like a case of assault with a deadly weapon
I have a condition that even a needle stick causes a pain flare that might last 24 hrs or more. This person should be disqualified from employment in a field where she can harm patients.
Why wear the sticker if you don’t want a response? They do not belong in the service industry.
The worst I had was in the Army. In my training company at Ft Devins, we volunteered to help the SF train doing blood draws. My arm was FUBARed for a month lol.
Soon to be the head of the FDA I’m certain.
Inner city gangs, Hollyweird actors, and now med students. It's now the acceptable standard. Of course, some may still give an apology, but even that no longer has any real significance.
-—and she/he/it should have that pronoun pin permanently planted in its forehead——to prevent future confusion.
Attempted murder, and so this insane individual should be in prison for life, but of course won’t be.
In 2014, I had a quadruple bypass. When I got to the regular room, I had a male nurse who chastised me for watching FOX News. I filed a complaint, and never saw him on the heart patient floor again.
I have had to have a variety of blood tests. Some are kinds rarely drawn. Some require special handling in the draw.
I make it my business to know ahead of time what they are suppose to do. I lie and say my Dr told me this would require special handling (they are clueless) so that I can attempt to get it right.
I have seen all kinds of things done that shouldnt be done.
And I lie about the tourniquet. If I know that one is suppose to be drawn without it I will just say I have had a problem in the past so can you try it without.
If I don’t lie and attempt to tell them how it is suppose to be drawn I get some really bad sticks!
easier just to lie...and of course blame it on the Dr saying he told me to tell you...lolol
This fits well with the stories about the medical industry deliberately killing people of a certain age and probable conservative political leaning. I didnt believe it when I first heard it but after a while it’s sounding possible.
Now you know how the powers that be can circumvent the Freedom of Speech clause? Give special privileges and protections to what this once Christian nation abhorred.
I got a fat purple hair freak of nature fired when I was on chemo. I could tell she was making the sticking more painful than she had to.
btw, there are some blood tests that require no light to the blood. Be aware if you are getting that kind. Many don’t know and if the computer doesn’t have an alert it may not get done right.
I always tell me mom, when going to doc (or anywhere really) do NOT mention anything about politics or religion... I do not trust leftists to behave humanely.
Glad to see this story is growing legs. The patient has hired an attorney already.
Absolutely.
Don’t even wear anything that can be construed as right wing when going to get blood drawn.
I remain as non committal as possible and to say as little as possible
Even though another FReeper claims this pronoun, from now on out, address me as your majesty.
.
5.56mm
you know it. The gal who adjusts my neck is a raving leftist. I am so non committal when she has my neck in her hands, you would think I never follow politics.
Trump? Who is Trump? Oh yes that guy...
