COLUMBUS, Ohio — As of June 12, you no longer need a permit or training to carry a concealed handgun in Ohio.

Gov. Mike DeWine on Monday signed Republican-backed legislation to allow people in the state to carry a concealed handgun without a permit or training and no longer require them to proactively tell law enforcement during traffic stops that they’re armed.

Although training should not be required, everyone who owns and or operates a firearm SHOULD get proper training. The numbers of unintended consequences will be reduced.

Furthermore, not only will you be safer manipulating the weapon, but depending on the instructor, your marksmanship skills should improve, thus saving ammo since you are actually hitting what you’re aiming at.

I’ve gone through the training 2x’s. Complete waste of time. Better to go to a local gun range & talk to the owner or range master. A few minutes tie with them one on one & a few different types of handguns tried will be enough.

The entire idea of a right is that it comes without strings attached. I believe in training, but lack of training doesn’t eliminate someone’s right.

People naturally and correctly fear and respect guns, and will seek the necessary training always.

I would sort of agree, if that training is of the type you cannot fail.

Here’s what I mean. Show the person the basics. And brief them on the gun laws applicable to their state. Then have them sign off on the training.

But no tests! Because once you institute tests, liberals will figure out ways to “fail” most members of the public.

When it comes to our constitutional rights, letting Government require anything in exchange opens the door to overreach.

We’re at what, about 20-25 Constitutional carry states? We’ll be fine.

Ohio makes number 23. Indiana and Georgia are looking very likely.

Nebraska is well on its way.

Without permits - Okay. ... Without some sort of training - Not Okay.

"Not Okay" in the sense that the law should require training, or "Not Okay" in the sense that someone who carries should get training voluntarily?

In my opinion, "shall not be infringed" means the latter.

It's similar to my view about seatbelt laws. I don't think a seatbelt should be required to be worn, but I also think only a damn doesn't wear one.

“While constitutional, this doesn’t seem like a good idea. These people have not been taught to respect their weapons. Someone’s gonna get blown away in a bus or some kid will get shot in a grocery store. Some idiot walking around with a weapon down his sweatpants will drop it and misfire into some old lady. And then they’ll do a national crack down. I know how these people operate!”

The ONLY idiot in the story is YOU. About 20 states already have this and we’re not seeing the mayhem you claim will result.

.....................................................
What is most urgently needed is some sort of intensive training of all government employees Federal and State regarding the unalienable rights of ALL Americans as clearly spelled out in the U.S. Constitution.
