Can you imagine how the auto industry would have survived if you had to replace the internal combustion engine every four to six years?

Electric cars are not friendly to the environment. Where are all those old used batteries going to be dumped?

Finally, they can not keep the lights on in California as it is, what are they going to do if a large number of electric vehicles are plugged into the grid at the same time?

As if the industry has any choice about this? The Democrat Dictators, national and state, have made it real clear it won’t be long before they make it illegal to sell gasoline and diesel powered vehicles.

The one add I did like was that one with the cute dog that jumped off a

I'd buy one of the dogs...

In the olden days politicians tried to get people back onto horses by requiring a man with a red flag to walk ahead of automobiles.
The market forces pushed the horse out and the auto in.

Today the politicians are mandating electric autos. Why not let the free market again decide what we want to drive?

In our area the power for electric cars is coming from a local coal fired power plant.

Goes further back than that.

They’re telling people what items they can MAKE.

I.e., manufacturers can’t just come up with things on their own or continue making them. Theyre told by these fascists (truest definition here) they cannot make X but MUST make Y, even if it hasn’t been invented yet.

I remember the great Budweiser ads — and some others — from decades ago, and we always looked forward to a new one or two, each SB.

That’s the ChiCom strategy.
Use coal generated electricity for vehicles (247 additional gigawatts currently in development).
Save petroleum for military.

It will take lots of nuclear power plants to generate enough electricity. That will have the liberals hyperventilating.

“Today the politicians are mandating electric autos. Why not let the free market again decide what we want to drive?”

The people behind this have no interest in what “the market” would decide. They know they lose completely under that scenario.

We’re good at fooling ourselves. Unless the energy source is truly an alternative to fossil fuels, e.g. nuclear, and unless these vehicles make massive improvements in the way of safety and efficiency, the idea will languish. That is not to say it must.

Meanwhile efforts at harnessing nuclear fusion may have a hand in making electric cars the VHS of the “future.”

There was pain when steam met diesel. There will be pain when petroleum meets a viable alternative. At the moment, electric ain’t it, and it’s still a pain.

I HATE, HATE, HATE these control freaks dictating to us how we should live our lives, what products we should buy, how much we can heat and cool our homes, what engines should power our cars, what types of light bulbs we can buy, how much water our toilets can use.

FUJB>FU>FU>FU. It’s none of your damn business what I drive and it’s not your place to make such stupid comments.
