PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota House on Tuesday passed two bills aimed at transgender students, seeking to restrict which bathrooms K-12 trans children can use and which sports teams trans girls and college-age women can join.
A ( proposal from Republican Gov. Kristi Noem) to ban transgender women and girls from playing in school sports leagues, including college athletes, that match their gender identity cleared its final hurdle in the Legislature with its passage in the House. Meanwhile, a proposal to ban transgender children from using school restrooms that match their gender identity was headed to the Senate.
Advocates for transgender people decried the passage of the bills as another round of bullying by Republican lawmakers. Both trans students and their family members (have testified in opposition to the bills,) telling lawmakers that the proposals would increase the alienation that such students already face.

There are numerous YouTube videos with college age girls/women absolutely refusing to agree that on average men are physically stronger than women. Their counter-argument? They will cite a woman who is stronger than some man. I had this play out last year when I made fun of Vanderbilt’s female kicker last year. I got “she can kick better than you can,” which is about the dumbest thing imaginable. How stupid and irrational does someone (a man around age 70 in this case) have to be to think that is an argument?
Letting boys compete in girls’/women’s sports is the end of their sports. No amount of training and socialization is going to change that.
Even in K-12 schools, this seems like a case of parents surrendering their responsibilities to a state government instead of just dealing with the matter themselves through their local school districts.

If women are supposed to be equal to men, then they have no business competing in segregated sports leagues. If they want to be treated equally in the workplace, then let them compete against men on the athletic field, too.
