President Biden held a meeting with White House officials Monday to discuss the administration's plan for combating rising prices as inflation continues to surge throughout the U.S., reaching levels not seen in 40 years.
In remarks ahead of the meeting, the president touted an executive order he signed in July aimed at increasing competition by cracking down on larger firms in industries that the administration sees as too "consolidated," referring to the issue as a decades-old problem the federal government needs to address.

So he signed this last July to break up monopolies (oh, excuse me, “consolidated corporations” and...guess what? It sure hasn’t worked to hold down prices. If it was even supposed to do that.
This is what I’ve always said about Obama - that he’s an economic illiterate. He took an eight-month recession and turned into a six-year depression. Looks like the same advisors are now talking to Bid*n.
Maybe some Whip Inflation Now buttons (made in China, of course)
Let’s see...
They are combatting Big Meat
They are combatting Big Oil
They are combatting Supply Chain
They are combatting clogged ports and backed up ships
They are combatting inflation
They are combatting COVID
They might soon be combatting the Russians in Ukraine
They are on defense everywhere and zero offense. No wonder poor Joey is so, so tired.
What’s a 62% price increase among friends?
Just think, in another year you’ll look back fondly when you could buy gas for $3.19. Here in the Silicon Valley area it’s all around $5!
Can you ship to us?
Holy Sh!t! $100 for two prime steaks?
I just had two thin New York Steaks from Safeway. Each weighed about 10 ounces. I think it was $24 for the pair.
I cook them up on the stove on a ribbed fry pan and throw some seasoned potato slices into the air fryer for lunch. That was a special treat yesterday (one of the steaks).
Today was back to peanut butter and jam on sourdough with a few potato chips and water.
You took the word right out of my mouth.
Maybe an El Camino with some astroturf in the back
You and your entire administration need to resign en mass and turn the keys to the country over to Real Americans, who will dedicate the entirey of their working moments to Making America Great Again!
just keep firing people who are not vaccinated, stopping drilling, shutting down pipelines and giving away free money to everyone for nothing!
I am sure that will fix it!
i wonder if Covid Joe has stumbled across those surplus cases of W.I.N buttons stored in the White House basement that Gerald Ford had printed up to Whip Inflation Now, or found those surplus cases of sweaters stored in the White House attic that Jimmy Carter touted as the solution of high heating bills ...
That’s horrible. My friend has a Costco membership, will ask her to take a look at prices.
You doubt me? Read through this thread.
I may do better at local super across the street from Safeway.
What’s he gonna do, wave a magic wand? LOL.
“If the van is rocking, don’t come knocking!”
Chinese own Safeway and Albertsons I think.
“. Damn .... I just bought a bunch of 1-1/4” thick Ribeyes on Friday for $6.99/lb .... Now I almost feel guilty ........ Pays to shop around ..... Here in SoCal I alway hit up Stater Brothers Market for their steak deals ......”
Ditto, just shared a large one with the wife. Staters didn’t advertise them as being choice cut, so I suspect they were lower grade select. But the wife picked through what was available and found a couple with decent warbling, may have been some choice grade that slipped through.
“Marbling” damn auto correct.
