Automaker Chrysler just announced plans to go completely electric by 2028, anticipating the release of its first electric vehicle by 2025.
Chrysler announced the plans along with a new AI-enabled vehicle system powered by a battery that the company says can travel 350 to 400 miles per charge, as The Associated Press reported.
Chrysler is part of Europe’s Stellantis, which last month announced a new strategy to embed AI-enabled software into millions of vehicles across its 14 different brands. This could gain Stellantis $22.6 billion in annual revenue by 2030.
This is all part of the race among automakers to produce more completely electric and hybrid cars that also have more autonomous driving features. Overall, this would begin shifting cars away from gasoline-powered engines.
As one of the main American brands of Stellantis, Chrysler will be on the front lines of this change in the auto industry in North America.

I was thinking, an electric Fiat—what could go wrong?
Dodge (including what is now Ram Trucks) and Plymouth have been known as Chrysler brands, but in this case are they only electrifying vehicles specifically branded as “Chrysler” or does it include Dodge and Ram? If they fully electrify these too then it’s curtains for them.
Bye bye, Chrysler. You’ve had a good run.
Man the wise the wise
No </sarcasm> tag needed here, no siree!
My lights dim when my neighbor’s AC kicks in. Outages around here are a fact of life.
But never fear, XiDung’s Build Back Better plan will solve all supply problems.
Which is why they have to promise $12.5K tax subsides for EVs which is incentive for the manufacturers to boost prices.
Battery technology is not there yet. I bet they back down after a couple of years. But in the meantime, they can score virtue points.
Smiths always had a great track record with electrical gauges in British cars /s I'm sure they're ready to reenter the market.
And take how many hours to recharge?
Yep. In 30 years the democrats will scream, “ batteries are destroying the planet.” Just as they are doing with plastic. I’ll never forget the liberals screaming “save the trees” use plastic bags if you care about the environment. They are so stupid.
Wall Street funds with agenda push this.
Same reason oil companies are looking to private capital
Its ok, gator, you can identify as anything you want to be :)
A couple days ago I saw some battery data that claimed electric vehicle mileage declines by 70% when the temperature goes under 30 degrees F.

I’d like to see a real-world test of an EV running air conditioning while traveling in south Texas in early August with the outdoor temperature of about 102 F. Run said tests on interstates AND in the wonderful Houston Friday afternoon traffic.
What is your mileage range in those actual conditions?
They plan to force everyone to electric or walk and with all electric cars on the road tons of people will have to walk . The gasoline cars will be useless when they ban gasoline ,LOL
They don’t have a choice.
C.A.F.E.
Too big to fail #3 coming to your pockets soon. GM, Chrysler, and insurance companies. If you’re woke you can go broke.
Another car company going woke to fulfill a non-existent demand powered by non-existent power generation
“I got bashed for saying EV’s will be 50% market share by 2030.
It’s basically guaranteed. Just watch the trends. It won’t need force, just market powers.”
Agreed
I’d like to get one, but still a bit too expensive to justify for my use, at this time. But it’s getting there.
Electric is a goood choice for a whole bucnch of people; Short commutes, two or more car families, secure garage for charging all make it an easy choice.
Also great for delivery, post office (many areas, not all), local governments, local schools, college on-campus transport,
Definitely not for everybody.
Where is the electric gonna come from? Same place it comes from now, and more. If you are worried about electric, there will be more issues to deal with than EV.
There is some fear among the insurance biz that self-driving cars will shut them down. And it’s possible, when human error is eliminated. Nothing soon, but it’ll eventually happen.
Nope wouldn’t touch one with a vaccinated crowbar. The last Dodge product we had was a 1980 cargo van, total POS.
I suspect that the last gas powered vehicles produced by these educated fools will be in high demand. We will look like Cuba in twenty years with everyone trying to keep their old gas vehicles running because the EV’s are useless expensive crap.
