I have a Ministry to the homeless in my city, and boy this article really Nails the insanity. A couple days ago one guy asked me to charge his tablet because he broke his charger. An hour and a half later he had called the police claiming I stole his tablet. The police officers told him he's no longer wanted downtown for lying about this to them.
Now I understand a little more. The newer versions of meth are causing people to be bipolar and paranoid all at the same time along with their inability to communicate. This guy has been showing extreme symptoms that I've seen and I just thought it was long term homelessness and alcoholism.
I do believe I saw signs of him using meth but his personal behavior is Way Beyond the normal meth symptoms of several years ago.

I just finished reading the article, very lengthy, but I encourage everyone to read it. A very enlightening read about a subject I know almost nothing about. Very well written and informative.
This is a problem, I fear, that is never going to go away, and the liberal groupthink of ignoring the problem, along with our open Southern border will only ensure that it is only going to get worse.
I know the socialist idea of tearing down our society and rebuilding it is what’s happening, but what blows my mind is the fact that they DON’T CARE. Their arrogance in thinking that they are going to be able to control all of this is stupefying. It will consume them as well. They can only insulate themselves for so long.
Our current program for handling mental illness sure ain't working. It's not helping, it's hurting.
Meth of any type didn’t just suddenly appear in this person’s system.
He willingly participated in finding/obtaining/swallowing it.
No different than “Guns’ killing people.
PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.....
The gun was just the chosen weapon.
Might be stolen. Dude might be collecting a disability check. Lots of homeless have really decent phones. One that fancied himself tech savvy showed me an infra-red attachment that he had for his phone. Pretty cool. Would have liked it at night. I’m sure it would be cool for looking through the brush to find camps or people ready to ambush you.
“ but drugs should be legalized, and the functioning part of society who didn’t abuse their bodies and minds should pay for endless rounds of rehab.”
You’re half right.

Salvation Army has always, for decades, been my “give to” charity, for their saving of several horse farm people I knew that fell from life and needed help.
The mental health issues are bigger than just one organization, though.
I have been hesitant to donate from perceived “wokeness” announced by the media, but it’s not in my heart to do nothing and walk away. No Red Kettles here in now Colorado like there had been in Florida, so i will go on line and gift.
I have to do at least what i can. And I don’t care if anyone wears a (worthless) mask. My wife is a masked Karen, and thinks she is kind to tell others what to do. Here is the only place i talk of doing, and encourage others by example.
(Also, include FR donation in your Christmas giving!)
Innocent by reason of insanity……
I fell into the trap, where words mean things, and those have been co-opted…it’s “Not guilty by reason of insanity “, which doesn’t mean “innocent “.
Thanks for posting this article.
Other then prostitution and meth peddling, the author sidesteps or isn’t concerned with how the homeless get their meth. Where’s the money coming from? Crime, welfare, charity? At least around here in DC, the bicycles and tents are from idiots who ignore the consequence of what they have enabled: are they also, in some way, paying for the drugs? I’m honestly curious.
That’s what they say they are. Who am I to question?
This was an incredible article. I could not stop reading. Thank you for posting it.
Thanks! Frank had a lot of good things to say.
Some of it is from people who think they’re doing Society Good by delivering boxes of food to them to each homeless camp at either to individuals or the whole camp and then giving cash to individual homeless people. They think that they’re helping these people and they just don’t realize they are enabling them to keep doing it, to keep being homeless because they are being provided for
Thanks, makes sense.
Every time I see a panhandler at the stop light I say to myself, helping him by not giving to him. But it’d have to be a group effort, as he’s there because it works. At least he’s out there, I guess. Still, it’s all just perverse incentives.
