Other then prostitution and meth peddling, the author sidesteps or isn’t concerned with how the homeless get their meth. Where’s the money coming from? Crime, welfare, charity? At least around here in DC, the bicycles and tents are from idiots who ignore the consequence of what they have enabled: are they also, in some way, paying for the drugs? I’m honestly curious.
Some of it is from people who think they’re doing Society Good by delivering boxes of food to them to each homeless camp at either to individuals or the whole camp and then giving cash to individual homeless people. They think that they’re helping these people and they just don’t realize they are enabling them to keep doing it, to keep being homeless because they are being provided for
