School boards the country over are becoming increasingly terrified of parents demanding accountability from their local education system and its elected officials – and one Minnesota school board is tripping over its own feet trying to fight back.
Video posted to social media shows Jodi Sapp, a school board member at Mankato Area Public Schools, instructing all members of the public wishing to speak at a recent school board business meeting that they must state their name and their entire home address before being allowed to comment.
Before we go on, an important reminder: this is a school board meeting, paid for by taxpayers, in a school district funded by taxpayers, to oversee schools filled with children of local residents. All of which supports the notion that the district should adhere to the desires of the parents, and that the taxpayer-paid school board members who are elected by said residents serve their citizens, and not the other way around.
The first speaker, a man, understandably states that he’s uncomfortable giving his home address “for the record,” saying he’s concerned about retribution from “fun people” who might not agree with what he has to say.
On top of that, Sapp goes on to state that commenters will be banned from “calling out” specific board members or school administrators or faculty by name – even after demanding that all resident speakers not only give their names, but state exactly where they live down to the house number.

lol
I have dealt with this, and there is a way around it. Simply point out to the board that these taxes are paid by both state and federal tax dollars, and not just local residents. As such, EVERYONE has input!
Parent: Human, Earth.
School board fascist: Could you be a little more specific?
Parent: No, I've met your requirements. Now, about this CRT BS...
The public cannot be required to produce identification to speak.
That was exactly what I would do.
She’s been docked online.
Doxxed.
Just say, “I’m homeless. Do you always discriminate against the homeless? Do you discriminate based on race and sex too?”
If it is good enough to vote it should be good enough to speak.
This issue of our feudal masters dumbing down our classrooms has been around for a while. CRT is like adding a special lens to a camara. To illustrate this here is a soundcloud audio link with Alice Linahan from 2016 (Texas ed activist with Women on the Wall) is discussing Social Emotional Learning.
It was common for these towns to ask people to state their names and addresses for the record if they were making public statements at a zoning board hearing, town council meeting, etc.
They ask for this information so it is known whether the person lives in the jurisdiction or if he/she even has any stake in the issues that are under discussion. Anyone can attend a public meeting, but the town council or zoning board will naturally determine that they don't give a damn what someone who lives and works miles away from the town has to say.
Only if the board members give their home addresses.
This is fascism in action! They are angry that the folks aren’t taking it! The parents will be getting letters from the irs, visits from the police, spray painting on their houses at night.

This is a valid point. Perhaps, in this new volatile world of doxing, they can ask the speaker to state their name and affirm they live in the jurisdiction (instead of giving their actual address).
Find out where the board members all live and give out their addresses before you talk. Watch the hypocrisy hysteria! Good clean doxing!

Yeah, just as soon as you give your address lady.
We’d like to know where you live too.
They need to completely doxx the school board members
Yes, I am We The People and I live at 123 Bludgeon All Communists Street.

As to the first part, here in Portland, Maine we are asked to give our address and/or organization we represent. One very long time commenter always just gave his address has Holm Avenue and no one ever required the full address. Every member of the council knew exactly where his house was. 20 years ago I provided my full street address. After moving several times and as the community has gone increasing left, I have opted for just my street address more for simplicity.
As to the first part, both our city council and our school board state that you are to direct your comments to the Mayor/Chair and not to other councilors or staff. It has been written into our council rules forever and I believe is standard meeting decorum. I fully support this concept.
