As much as I don’t like Baldwin, I’m not convinced this is
on him.
Prop person
Director’s choice of how to shoot the scene
If I’m an actor, I’m not going to fiddle with the weapon
once it is certified to be properly prepared. I might
change a dynamic I wasn’t aware of.
I will say, if I were shooting the weapon, I would watch
how it was prepared and make sure I could understand why
it wouldn’t hurt anyone.
I would do my best to set it up so I didn’t have to shoot
aiming at someone. A scene can be filmed so that it looks
like the shooter is aiming at the target, but is really
off by a few feet, so no one can get hurt.
Just because I don’t like Baldwin as a person, I do not
think he would harm someone on the set by being reckless.
If it is proven otherwise, I’ll accept it. Not trying to
cover for him unjustly.
This would put me in shock, and I can’t imagine Baldwin
feeling any different about taking the life of someone
he knows like that.
I was thinking the exact same thing.
+1 on your post. This was NOT the way that I was hoping that he would stop parodying Trump on SNL.
I think it’s a bit strange that the director and cinematographer were shot. They were both shot. That’s all I’ll say.
Good pints.
That said I have been around the filming of two TV shows where guns were used and the gun prop master had one rule that was strictly enforced - NO LIVE AMMO ON SET.
I agree with everything you’re saying, but the fact he fired the weapon twice should raise some serious questions. One would think he’d see the damage done after the first shot.
Agreed.
“...once it is certified to be properly prepared..”
If I get my hands on a firearm I’m the one who does the certifying.
Agreed.
You would think protocols were put in place to prevent that happening again. The guns used are often the real deal, so it is possible a live round was accidentally used. The actors are not really aiming the gun so I suspect he was facing a camera or designated spot for the scene. Probably fired multiple times for the scene before realizing something was wrong.
Somebody should be held accountable but I doubt it is going to be a twit who only plays the role of an intelligent person in movies.
This is 100% on Baldwin.
He aimed a firearm at people and pulled the trigger.
It’s irrelevant what he may have thought. This is a negligent discharge at the least and therefore negligent homicide.
Why would he aim it at the director?
Yeah exactly. While preventable still a tragic accident and of all the reasons to not like Baldwin this is not one.
