I didn’t mind that song, but the fast-paced climax of it sounds like an intro to a 1970s-era newscast.

Did you know that the band that does that song is mostly white, including the lead singer?

‘Spirit’ came out when I was a senior in high school, part of what made that song a hit was it capitalized on the ‘Jesus Freak’ movement: Former dope smoking hippies that suddenly ( and temporarily) found God. That song became their anthem.

Forgive me, but I like the song. ;)

I had wondered about that.....I only heard the song on the radio over the years. I never saw the band in a visual medium.

But I still don’t like the song.

No worries about not liking it, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The band that did the song was basically a garage band that played minor gigs around town. That song started as an instrumental jam, to warm up and caught on when someone in the audience said: “hey, play that funky music white boy”. They added the lyric and became a one hit wonder.
