So who all would be flying private planes to Nantucket?

I used to do it every weekend in July for eight summers. (But gasoline was my fuel.)

It’s too bad Steven Weber became such a left wing lunatic.

You certainly could be right about NIMBYs putting up a fuss but I don't think it is necessarily a dead on arrival option.

Nantucket has a commercial harbor area already and that's where something like a fuel barge operation would be run through.

BTW…. Deaf Smith mentioned a fuel barge option and I just ran with it a bit.

“Sandpiper Air will be grounded.”

And it’s curtains for Tom Nevers Field. Brian and Joe Hackett would have taken care of business.

Heard that Roy Biggins stroked out when he heard the news.

All the Obama party goers were stopping in to fuel their jets and ferry over because MV airport was at capacity.

Is this going to impact Caliph Baraq’s birthday extravaganza?

Can SlowJoe declare some type of emergency and have the military bring in tankers?

:) Probably. He wasn’t in very good shape. A stroke was inevitable.

"I don't know about Nantucket's airport, but the ferry system for most islands book months in advance. I wonder if the same is true for private airplanes landing in Nantucket. If so, then there is NO excuse for running low/out of fuel...the supply and demand isn't so random."

Yeah there are only so many hangars at KACK, and you figure historical forecasting had the margins right on Cape Air, Tradewinds, Elite, etc., consumption. Educated guess says a barge missed a refill call while charters like NetJets must have seen some wild business this year to KACK and sipping unexpected/unplanned refills.

I love NetJets, they know how to make you happy.

<>No fuel for all those private mega-jets belonging to the “Save Gaia” leftist hypocrits...<>

That was my reaction. These are The Party people who will sentence the proletariat to EVs while Party members blast around in special Chey Suburbans.

Solar or wind fed into a high pressure alkaline electrolysis cell can very much fuel an aircraft with high pressure H2 gas or go the LH2 route either has the energy density needed for long range flights.

This group is about to demo their fuel cell aircraft as a 40 seat commuter sized.

https://www.hydrogen.aero/

Airbus already plans on liquid H2 for narrow body and regional sized aircraft.

Not just prototypes Iceland Air plans to fly H2 aircraft as revenue units. Makes sense for Iceland they have zero hydrocarbon reserves but massive amounts of geothermal energy and hydropower some of the cheapest in the world for both types of power. Turning cheap geothermal or hydro power into hydrogen gas is not exotic technology H2 high pressure electrolysis is main stream tech as long as you have dirt cheap kWh to feed them.

When I used to live there and AFAIK a fuel barge is used for fuel deliveries. They infrequently had spills. Some were bad and polluted the harbor. I remember one summer evening coming into the harbor in my boat and from the channel to the dock (3 miles) there was a sheen on the water and it reeked of fuel. DEQE or some other MA agency may have shut it down.

There is a cargo ferry, the Aruga, I believe ‘The [Steamship] ‘Authority’ can put on for makeup deliveries. It’s probably already running tho.

IIRC, there was a small private airline based in Nantucket that had a good reputation....
