Good evening, Michael...I lived near the intersection of South St and Woodruff for a LONG time.
South Street works for me. LOL! And we won’t tell anyone.

When I first heard Richard Harris’s, “MacArthur Park” on a local Filipino radio station I was IMPRESSED! Imagine a Top 40 Radio hit based on a park in Manila, Philippines .. . and YES, I HAVE been out in MacArthur Park in the rain !! NEVER did find THAT cake .. . When I first heard MacArthur Park, I was impressed because MacArthur was a hero of mine--a general who sought victory over Communism. And that cake in question was probably a bibingka.

South Street and Woodruff? That was the site of Dutch Village, a shopping center in the 1950's that looked like a Dutch village--probably inspired by the large number of Dutch dairy farmers in the area at the time.
Fedco, a department store with restricted membership, where we shopped all the time in the late fifties and early sixties, was located there. It later outgrew Dutch Village and moved across the freeway to South and Pioneer.
