The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 7-2 Thursday that the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, remains valid, rejecting a claim by a group of conservative states that a recent change to the law made it unconstitutional.
Republicans have long opposed the law, former President Barack Obama's signature legislation. But more than 20 million Americans now depend on it for their health insurance, and there is broad public support for its requirement that insurance companies must cover pre-existing health conditions.

I dont have a clue why EVERYONE IS BITCHING about a law with no teeth when the MANDATE to pay ‘BY LAW” WAS removed by drum roll...SCOTUS! That was the most important condition for this “law” to work.
MANDATE to pay ‘BY LAW” WAS removed
Yes and one would be hard press to find a doctor who was licensed in this country to take Obamacare.
Obamacare jacks the medical cost so sky high a family of four has to kick in a few grand just to use it.
Obama’s socialism idea abuses stupidity.
not to worry; jo and the ho will bring back the individual mandate and this time SCOTUS will give it the all clear.
think it can’t happen? nothing is off the table with this corrupt and criminal banana republic regime.
Exactly.
The GOP are just wasting their time. Once the condition of MANDATORY PAYMENT / PENALTY was removed, it was worthless. And if you are able to access FR archives, almost everyone agreed to just pay the penalty which was around LESS than $1000 for an annual salary of I remembered 60K annual salary. Big friggin deal.
Plus, I was one of the VERY few who didnt pay for it from 2008 on. I even waited to the IRS to send me a letter..
Bump
That is called 'Medicaid'... good ol' NBC News. Insurance cannot cover pre-existing conditions any more than they can cover your car accident when you didn't have insurance at the time. At one time over 70% of people on Obama care were actually on Medicaid.
Another way to cover pre-existing conditions is to have a $30,000 deductible.
Thinking and truth are the rarest of commodities these days.
Exactly. OR....to guarantee coverage for PEC and without charging extra, the only solution is to charge everyone as if they have them, whether they do or not, which most do not. And the vote/opinion of people stupid enough to think that’s a good idea counts same as ours. It’s intolerable.
I think I understand your point. The bottom line is that insurance companies cannot afford to cover pre-existing conditions without exorbitant rates - or exorbitant deductibles, which is the same thing.
The Affordable Care Act was designed to end up with everyone on a single payer health plan... probably leaving the wealthy to pay for everyone else but with no real coverage of their own, except pay as you go.
This issue, supported by lies, like everything the 'Rats do, reminds me of how, during the Carter years, the govt said it was sticking it to the oil companies -- and no one could understand why the price at the pump kept going up and why there were fuel shortages. The same goes for sticking it to corporations: the consumer pays the increased price. The politicians know that the people have not been educated as to how these things work: almost all taxes are paid by the little guy.
