A few years ago a high school friend and I had a discussion on our IPhones about a guy we knew in high school. We were speculating about whether this guy was on FaceBook. The next time I went on FB, the guy was in the line of ‘people you may know’ on my Timeline. It is really scary how much data is being collected about EVERYONE. And yeah, I know I shouldn’t be on FaceBook but it is a quick connection to relatives in other countries.
I’ve heard of the ads popping up when you discuss a topic near your phone or computer. While scary, it’s relatively harmless.
THIS one, however, was scary as f***.
My fitness watch, yesterday, informed me that payday was tomorrow.
What the actual f***.
The only way it could know that — it is linked to my phone — is if it screen scraped my phone banking.
The monitoring we are undergoing is at China-levels.
Heck; even good, ol’ FR keeps a record of everything I type here.
(Although I’m not sure about the replies that get pulled.)

Alexa, echo, ring, home “security” tech., etc. is ALL EVIL!!!
That is BS they tell people to placate them.
They DO and WILL access ALL your tech., electronics, etc. anytime or ALL the time 24/7 no matter what you say or do.

Either turn Sidewalk off in the app or unplug the damn' things. Both methods work.
When the ‘voice’ at self-checkout starts playing instructions to my wife, I sneer in a loud voice ‘Shut up, Alexa!’...most patrons in the vicinity smile or LOL.
As I told you yesterday and I'll repeat here for EVERYONE who actually reads these threads, never, ever, EVER use your "smartphone" for information / privacy sensitive tasks such as online banking.
You're just begging for trouble if you do.
Use a purpose built machine, whether physical or virtual, for financial transactions only and keep it powered off when not in use for that specific task.
I have an Ubuntu Linux VM with a hardened kernel that I use to manage my finances. It gets powered on only when I need to use it to manage my finances and then gets powered back down. Because it's virtual it's logically isolated from all the other compute resources on my home network.
As for my "smartphone" I use it for the following tasks only:
- Phone calls (Yes, I still make them once in awhile)
- SMS messaging
- Streaming music to my car stereo
- Taking photo's (which I do NOT replicate to the Cloud)
- Weekly grocery list
I also only keep those apps on it that I use, I delete everything else, I keep location services OFF and I do not allow my phone to sync with my computer automatically. When I transfer pictures I use a USB3 cable and copy them down, then immediately disconnect the phone.
Some of you may call me paranoid however I NEVER have an ad pop up on any of my devices for things I talk about. So there's that. :-)
Amazon Sidewalk is a third-party. How is this NOT a violation of the AUP we all have with our ISP's?
I'm no lawyer however if I was I'd be seriously thinking about a mass, class-action lawsuit against Amazon.

NO. As a 34-year veteran RF design engineer, I can tell you that there is NO COMMERCIAL 900 GHz radio. NONE. Anyone telling you that is a LIAR.
I'm a HAM though I don't have 900mhz capabilities to test if this is true or not. If it's true however, I'm shocked (not) the ARRL hasn't launched a lawsuit or protests to stop this.

You're 100% correct there's no Commercial 900ghz radio frequency, I suspect the original poster had no idea what they were talking about.
There is however a 900mhz spectrum allocation in the Amateur Radio Service that Amazon is infringing upon if this article is accurate.

What is your point? All the wireless telephones that people use around their house are in the 900 ghz range, there’s no commercial license required.
Totally agree. Seems the younger generations are drama queens that like making hysterical declarations.
