I would love a COVID-19 vaccine passport. After more than a year in full or partial quarantine, I’m so happy to be vaccinated I want to get the words “FULLY” and “VAXXED” tattooed on my butt and run naked through the streets. (Don’t worry, I won’t. America has suffered enough.)
Unfortunately … sorry, that’s a side effect of the Pfizer vaccine … unfortunately, vaccine pride is not as prevalent as it should be, and a sizable swath of the population prefers to poo-poo the one thing that can lead us out of a pandemic that has killed more than 550,000 Americans.
...
And on that point, we most definitely are not pulling together “as one people to a common goal.” A Monmouth University poll released April 14 found 43% of Republicans say they’re unlikely to get the vaccine. That contributes heavily to the 1 in 5 Americans overall who say they won’t get vaccinated.
....The hesitant-to-get-vaccinated are also up in arms over the idea of a vaccine passport, I guess because of “tyranny” or some other incorrect but scary sounding word... but the vaccine-wary could keep us from reaching herd immunity and increase the risk of weird, dangerous COVID-19 mutations. Without enough vaccinations, we can’t breathe easy and swim out of the undertow of stress that sucked us down more than a year ago.
The good news is I have a plan that should appeal to folks fearful of a vaccine or vaccine passports...So instead of providing vaccine passports to people who get the Pfizer or Moderna or Johnson & Johnson shots, let’s just issue mandatory “I’M SELFISH!” T-shirts to those who refuse.

If only it were that innocent...
“...a sizable swath of the population prefers to poo-poo the one thing...”
Rex, the expression you wanted was “pooh-pooh”. Poo-poo is what fills your cranial vault.
I got vaccinated and I WILL wear a t-shirt like that.
F-them. I’m not playing that game. The vaccines are a choice.
If they wanna play Star of David on our cloths, everyone I know, family and friends will wear one too.
Wrong is wrong.
Stupid morons.
Leftists love the word MANDATORY.
But I’ll bet he’s pro-choice on abortion...
I am not sure- Are you serious about someone being selfish for wanting to go out to dinner at the ‘expense’ of a vaccine?
This ‘vaccine’ is not tested enough to make be confident in its use, so I will NOT be getting it. Does that make me selfish?
Bet Mr. Safety also supports legal weed, too...
I'm old enough to remember the I'M SELFISH AIDS T-shirts..........
No, the author is being selfish in demanding everyone get the shot so he can go out to dinner.
I’d wear a “My body, My choice” tshirt.
What happened to my body, my choice?????
Oh that’s right,
That only pertains to killing unborn children....
🤔
Question for Huppke: When we’re dealing with a disease with a survival rate of over 99%, what’s an acceptable number of vaccine-related deaths to incur while mass vaccinating for it?
Just curious, Mr. Huppke.
"The Nazis conducted medical experiments on unwilling victims."
"These are not vaccines but experiments."
"You didn't do your research on the "vaccine", you ARE the research."
"Let me choose the next experiment on you."
"If this "vaccine" is so great, why is Jao Bai-Din flooding the border with un-vaccinated illegals?"
"If Jao Bai-Din got the "vaccine", why is he still wearing a mask? Did he not get it? Is it not effective?"
"If the "vaccine" is safe, why are "vaccine" manufacturers indemnified?"
<< the vaccine-wary could keep us from reaching herd immunity >>
We have immunity from the herd.
Rex Huppke writes a humor(ish) column. He is considered (by himself) to be America’s most-beloved columnist, though there is no empirical evidence of that. Before becoming a columnist he spent a decade reporting on social justice issues, from poverty and gang violence to the gay civil rights movement. He previously worked for The Associated Press.
Sheep Dog, Not Sheep.
Yeah yellow star or spiked corona virus t-shirt with an oriental virus face...
I have a counter proposal: Issue ‘Control Group’ Armbands.
I’m still confused. If the “vaccines” work, then why the hysterical reaction from those that got the jab whenever they find someone that says they aren’t going to get it? I don’t remember anybody being like that for ANY vaccination in the past.
