It’s becoming increasingly clear as the pandemic continues to wind down that the goal of achieving “herd immunity” in the U.S. won’t be possible — at least, as it’s defined by public health officials. Too many of us decline to be vaccinated for the U.S. to meet the target goal of 70-90 percent of citizens who have either been vaccinated or contracted Covid-19.
Instead, we’ve got to accept the fact that the virus will become a “manageable threat” and continue to bedevil the world for years to come.
“The virus is unlikely to go away,” said Rustom Antia, an evolutionary biologist at Emory University in Atlanta. “But we want to do all we can to check that it’s likely to become a mild infection.”
Part of the problem is the coronavirus itself. The virus is mutating at an alarming rate. Some of the variants have been shown to be more infectious. Some are more virulent and cause more severe symptoms.
But so far, the vaccines that have been approved for use have demonstrated great effectiveness against all Covid variants. That’s the good news. The bad news is that some virologists believe that a variant is going to come along that is resistant to the current crop of vaccines. Then what?
For the moment, this scenario is unlikely. It’s probable that the vaccine will give at least some protection, which means fewer hospitalizations and deaths regardless of what variant is causing the infection.

They sure try ;-)
Exactly.
Considering we don’t even know WHAT, exactly, they’re shedding.
The utter lack of self awareness is stunning.
LOL....herd immunity was likely reached MONTHS ago!
It does NOT create antibodies in the body.
And that’s the problem.
What is the problem, is that it tells your body to make spike protein.
And the spike protein causes all kinds of problems all on its lonesome, even when it isn’t attached to the coof virus.
And that’s what researchers are beginning to find out and publicize.
As if it was really necessary for this faux phlu.
Look! This turkey is telling us to trust the CDC.
Try looking up what they’ve said about masking over time since this started.
Because SCIENCE!™
Lots of fear going on. We also have in house doctors pushing vaccines and such. Maybe they never took an oath.
The Branch Covidians seem to be growing in number on FR.
Very telling given how depraved our society has become.
I’m not surprised though.
Your response presumes the entire BS narrative: that asymptomatic transmission is significant, that masks/distancing work, that shutdowns work and are necessary, that people who keep up their immune systems/vitD/zinc can still be significant in disease transmission. All false. Of course you won’t agree. The great thing is that in a free country, we healthy people are free to tell you technocrats to shove it up your rear ends, and, if necessary, to do so with whatever tools are at hand.
Yup, there’s only one answer for treatment of COVID by big pharma leftist shills and that’s the “vaccine”.
They won’t even allow that there might be other options. Or even allow them to be used.

Your response assumes that I favor masking, lockdowns, all the CV mitigation measures. I do not. I simply answered a question of why someone would insist that those who’ve been vaccinated continue to wear masks. While I don’t agree with them, I can understand their reasons for insisting.

How about you anti-vaxxers quit spreading false and misleading information in an attempt to discourage people from taking a safe and effective vaccine?
are you a medical professional???...

There you go, again, with the false, lefty labels. Anti-vaxxers??
Seriously?? That’s all you could pull out of your old, tired and tattered Alinsky book?
How many times do I have to tell you that most, if not all, who are merely questioning/demanding to know the safety and efficacy of these UNPROVEN, EXPERIMENTAL and seemingly dangerous shots are NOT anti-vaxxers?
I know that I have had (as have my family members) REAL, proven vaccines, all of our lives.
What false and misleading information am I spreading about these shots?
You’re the one spreading THAT horse manure by stating they’re safe and effective. The jury is out on the safety and the effectiveness seems to be slipping on your memes, too.
I am not in medical field, but I have great powers of observation and common sense. I see 150,000,000 Americans already have at least 1 shot of covid vaccine, and I have not seen reports of mass problems, much less mass deaths.
I have talked to dozens of seniors in my Florida condo community, almost all are vaxxed, and have not heard of a single serious problem other than mild flu like symptoms for a couple of days following the 2nd shot.
I mentioned none of those entities and have referenced no others.
Their lack of credibility stems from their own failures.
